Toplink Need a shorter top link

/ Need a shorter top link #21
I cut one down from Tractor Supply so that my new Everything Attachments 6 Way Value Scrape Blade would give me more clearance on my BX2200. I used a sawzall to cut off about 3/4inch of thread off both ends; this leaves enough thread to work with, then I cut the two threaded inserts down equal amounts so they wouldn't hit each other in the center. Been using it this season on some heavy work without any problems.

Take care using a top link shortened to pitch a middle buster down. As you lower the three point hitch the geometry may change enough to make the implement go over center turning your top link into a steel pretzel. If it overcenters and you do the normal reaction of lifting the three point hitch, you will be presented with an upside down implement and a really destroyed top link. All it takes is too much resistance in the form of a rock or hard earth or going too deep. It happens faster than you can react. Be certain that all three arms of the three point hitch are parallel especially in the lowermost position. How do I know? Experience. It is still a relief that the relatively cheap top link breaks before something on the tractor.
