It was really nice! If this seat modification doesn't suffice, it (the Titan) will probably be my next mower in the future.
Good to hear, thank you. I just put a 54" Titan in my garage last weekend. Now if it stops snowing, I might get to use it this spring. I didn't get the ability to test it over rough terrain, but it sure seemed like it should work well. I also didn't want to wait too long to pull the trigger, I'm not sure how long local availability would last.

okay this gets away from suspension modifications but believe it or not it this clam exercise has help my hip and lower back pain.

My daughter went to physio and they gave her this exercise.

I do twenty each side every day and it has been more effective then towels stuffed behind my back, rest, losing weight..... anyway worth a try, eh? I will be 66 in April the specialist wanted to fuse my back in three places in 1989, I am not blowing smoke, nobody knows back pain unless they have been there. Good luck!
Think I need to try this!!!
I know what you mean about back pain...three herniated disks in my lower back. One time it went out, they had to carry me to my car. I think I crawled to the house....couldn't walk. Percocet was my best friend for about 3-4 months

Had to go through all the posts to see how many times Toro came up. A short drive on the dealer lot convinced me the Titan 60 with MyRide was the way to go. After a couple hrs on my old Deines Marty J, I could barely move. Now mowing is a breeze.

My solution was to install an air suspension seat with long suspension travel and adjustment up or down by changing air pressure

I have a fancy seat on my Kubota zero turn mower, it's nice and comfy. I don't have a fancy seat on my tractor though, and I don't feel the loss. The sort of jostling I get on my tractor in the field is a whole-body deal, more akin to riding a bucking bronco (not that I'd know what that's like). I also have a bad back, and after recovering from my last surgery the hardest thing to do was just to turn in the tractor seat so I could go backward and/or see what I was doing pulling rear implements. Maybe a rotating seat for that? Dunno. Anyway, just sharing FWIW, good luck. On the rear facing stuff, I suppose it's useful stretching for back recovery?

It is a Grammer Air suspension seat that came as optional equipment on Kubota Tractors. It is available outside of Kubota. If you need the model number let me know?

I read the OP post, and got an idea of the topic of this thread, I acknowledge that I have not read the 5 pages that follow - my point being that there may already be solutions. (I'm a busy guy :) )

Anyway, I thought that there might be a way that a Fabricator could do something to the original ZTR to retro-fit one of the new suspension seats, or perhaps fabricate a seat base for any preferred seat.

I too have lower back / back issues, so I get it.

MGH-PA - do take care of your back. That is likely a longer term solution. All the best

<snip>I have a pretty rough 1.25 acres to mow, <snip>

Thoughts?
Get your lawn mowing down to 1/4 acre and get a robomower. Find a tractor for tractor work.
Americans obsession with lawns is overkill linky
