Need a Starter

Good Evening and thanks for letting me join. Hopefully someone can assist me. I need a starter for my New Holland TC30 tractor and I'm having trouble identifying the correct part number. I've checked a number of sources and they either list it as part#SBA18508-6551 or SBA18508-6550. I spoke with a few suppliers and they don't seem to have the correct answer either. I was wondering if there was anyone who might have this tractor and had occasion to replace this unit. I checked the original part (still attached to the engine) and I can't seem to locate a number. Any assistance that anyone could provide would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks

The NH site list the starter as 6551. They also list a 6551R as a remaned starter. Are you positive the starter is bad. With all the safety switches on these tractors one can easily miss diagnose a bad starter.

Check the yellow pages and see if there is anyone locally that rebuilds starters. You could save some $, and meet a new friend.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm ninty nine percent sure that it's bad. When I try to start it at times it does not respond. However a few convincing wacks with a stick which I believe advances it beyond the dead spot causes it to respond to my next attempt.

Do a search on ebay for tc30 starter. There are 7 new starters on there for under $100.00. A whole lot cheaper than NH.
