Tiller Need a tiller for my NhTC24DA

Wouldn't you rather till an acre at a speed that allows you to drink your coffee? It's not like it's gonna get tilled faster with a 4' tiller, you'll just be driving faster.

The smaller tiller will be cheaper, which is nice, but I think, personally I'd go for the 5 footer. I think you'll have better resale value with a 5' tiller down the road also.

With 18 hp and a 5' tiller, he won't be moving much. A lot of his time will be spent stopped & waiting for the engine rpm's to catch back up to pto speed. That's if he has a hydrostatic transmission, if it is a geared transmission, 18 hp just won't make it work.

Tractor is hydrostatic. I'm talking about tilling gardens etc. Speed is not really a factor. Speaking of that, can you quantify speed and time for equal plots of land for each size tiller? Are we talking hours difference or partial hours? I have a Harley rake for the big stuff.

Well I admit that I've never used a setup like we're talking about, and that you certainly may be correct. I was just figuring that if he creeps along and never lets the tractor bog down then it should work fine. Since it's hydrostatic, this seems to be like it should be possible.

Speed with a 5' tiller on your tractor? A 90 year old arthritic woman with a walker can move faster.

I think an off-set tiller would be ideal for your tractor, that way you could cover one tire track. The only drawback is you would have to till in a clockwise manner all the time and if you plan to hire out for work, that isn't always possible. There is usually something in the way.

That sounds slow. Maybe I should really look into a 48" tiller. I'm not into speed but I don't want to grow old while tilling either.

I've tilled acres upon acres with King kutter and have sometimes used it where maybe it shouldn't. Great tiller. I had a 5' and now have a 6'.... Great product! Best bang for the buck in my opinion

A 48" tiller will do the job also. Really, though with 18 PTO HP, it's gonna be slow no matter what. If you want to go fast, you're gonna need a bigger tractor.

Also check out Ansung (TerraForce) and you local AGG rental place. With the rental place you can try before you buy and get a great end of season deal as they sell them off.
