Hi and hello to all!

Newbie here!

I just purchased a house with 5 acres and a Kubota GS1800 54 cut.
I'm looking to upgrade to a newer bigger tractor to maintain the property.
My starting point is 30 hp. The land is mostly grass and flat with some brush removing needs.

Would like to stay under 18,000 if possible?

Thanks to all that reply! :D

VRF201, this thread has been all over the place and back again. Now please go buy a tractor and post some pics so we can all gawk, oooh and ahhhh;).

Thanks,
Podunk

Podunk, As soon as he completes the therapy in which he was enrolled after losing it while trying to integrate all the good but conflicting advice and assuming he retains an interest after this gentle introduction then he may buy a tractor.

So, VFR201 have you bought a tractor? Many pages back someone stated that your first tractor would not be your last anyway. That's already true for me after less than a year. I bought a b7100 and thought it was "excessive" for my 6.5 acres. Well, it's sold and I now have a low hour (232) B2400 with FEL. Don't know how I lived without the FEL for bedding, gravel, screenings, loading manure, etc. Sure beats **** outa a shovel for filling the manure spreader. However, I do then have to hook the tractor to the spreader AFTER filling it. Probably need a "pulling" tractor to go with the loading tractor. . . . I need more medication I think . . .

Just remember that 5 acres is a lot but you still have to be able to maneuver the equipment.:D :D

Is that why my neighbors look at me when i run the ford 5000 and 10' mower around on the 3ac next to our house? ;)

Nah, they probably are just checking to see if you got a new hat.

Over time the novelty of seeing a guy in Speedos driving around on a tractor will wear off.

I got the same look when I moved to my current home on 1 acre that is about 70miles from the farm, when I used a M5400 with 6' finish mower to mow the yard it was about 2 months before I got a lawn mower up here.

NO that is not why your neighbors look at you when you use a 10 foot batwing to mowe the 3 acres. They are probably saying prayers thanking god that you dont have three hundred acres. If you did the size of the tractor would probably blot out the sun and cause an ice age near your house.

Actually the 10' mower is a fixed deck.. the batwing is a 15' and sets on the NH 7610s.. which is the 5000's big brother. I've never really mowed the 3ac with the batwing.. except to test it out after repairs.. the 10'er though.. I have used on occasion.

And I'll have the other poster know that I was in boxer shorts and cowboy boots that time when i was mowing.. not a speedo! ;)
