OK gang help me out here, what is your best guess..

How far is it from the camera position to the top of the hill.

I hope you guys are way off, I really don't know.
Need to make sure I have enough cable to go from the top of the hill (where the two little buildings are) to the bottom. This hill is in Colorado and I am in Oklahoma or I would just go measure it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If it helps the two little buildings are 6 foot square.

Its' really hard to tell from the pic but I will take as stab at 500+ feet. Better find someone to measure it.

Do you have a buddy who is a shooter or hunter in Colorado. If so ask them if they have a range finder, the laser type. In a few seconds he could tell you the exact yardage.

Assuming no zoom lens was used, I would guesstimate 500 to 600 feet; i.e., 200 yards or less. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You could also find yourself a Boy Scout. They learn how to do these kinds of measurements as part of their Orienteering work.

Hey, there's an idea. Contact a local Troop and see if they will measure it as part of a Troop outing/project. It would get you the informatin that you need, and provide them with a valuable, practical application of knowledge they've learned. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
