Need help between bx1860 vs bx2360

Back in March of 09 I looked and drove all the BX's ended up with the BX2360. With 10 acers and 6 of those to mow with a KK 60" RFM does a great job. The 900' Drive is done with both a front and rear home made blades. FEL is one of my usefull items for the unit. 14 mo later and over 250 hrs later it's been a trouble free BX. I needed more power than 1860 had to offer but not more than the 2360. Good luck on your choice. John

Since I have one of each size i don't see where you could go wrong with either one.
I'd go with a 60 '' mower on either tractor .

Quick note, BX1860 will not take the 60" deck, but definitely go as large as you can fit. sounds like both tractors will work for you but aside from cost the BX1860 has a shorter wheel base and will be a little nimbler. from your post I don't think that is a concern and you are already looking at the future and questioning power. Again, go as large as the budget will allow. trading in later will be more expensive.

I bought a BX2350 about 2 years ago. I got the 60" deck. I had a Deere mower with a 54" deck, and I thought I would give up quit a bit in the quality of the cut. I've been pretty suprised with the quality of the cut. It doesn't scalp unless you get on some really uneven ground. The only drawback is the weight. It tends to mash the grass down a little bit more than a regular riding mower. I had my rear tires filled which I know doesn't help. If you vary your mowing pattern, this is less of a problem. The things you can do with the machine are so much of a bonus, its worth it, the 4 wheel drive, the power of the diesel, all the things you can do with the FEL, all the different implements you can get for a 3 point hitch. You really can't go wrong with either machine, but I'd say unless money is tight for your purchase, get the bigger machine.

Right now I have a JD345 w/54" deck so thats good to know that the 60" is compareable. I guess the reason for looking at a 1860 is the smaller footprint to turn and mow around things, and if I can save some money thats nice also. Does anyone know how turning radius compares on 1860 w/54" deck and a 2360 w/ 60"deck?

I saw those specs in the book, but thought between a 1860 w/54 and a 2360 w/60" deck might be a wash with an extra 3" on each side of the 60" deck.

Ok, so it has been a few days now of consternation.

Frankly, 95% of the overall package is identical between the two. The list of what they have in common far outweighs the differences. Yup, the 1860 is a the price leader and in many ways, pound for pound, is a tremendous tractor bargain, imo.

It just comes down to your gut, to your inner vision of you doing work on your tractor. Sleep on it again. Once you make your decision, that's it. Go for it and don't look back. There is always a larger tractor, always a newer one being built somewhere. Get YOUR tractor and go have fun, loving it and working it.
The end. :D

It may be a wash, but it will be reflected in use not on the spec sheet.
