Too bad you aren't in Canada. Princess Auto carries these in 10 gauge. $6.00

Four pin trailer connectors might work also with a bit of finagling.

But with those things you need to splice the wire...makes for a bad looking job.

One more stupid question: I can get rolls of any wire I want, but what I'd really like is 2 10ga wires put together in a weatherproof plastic sleeve. I can make my own in split loom, but I really like the toughness of a pre-made 2 wire in a sealed sleeve.

Anyone know who sells wire already set up this way on line for reasonable cost?

McMaster Carr sells about anything you'd need. I can't link to the actual item, but here's the website: McMaster-Carr

10/2 Jacketed cable is item 7081K17. It's $1.63/ft.

Yep! That is the downside of those. However, if you have a lathe, you can make splices with the exact inside diameter to match the bare wire and with the exact outside diameter to match the insulated part. A little solder, a little heat shrink and you have a butt splice that is much neater than the commercial ones. :)

Thanks!

Are the actual pins on the #10 wired connectors any heavier than those on the ones with #14 wire? I've never had them stand up to more than a few amps, plus they seem to corrode pretty quick when exposed to the elements. They seem to be designed to make a connection that stays made, rather than unplugged on a regular basis and left open....

Get fine strand tin coated copper wire and M/F weather proof connectors at a marine supply store like West Marine.

I'll do this also, but I use a plastic coated butt connector minus the plastic.

Most of the time I can just push the metal portion out, once in a while I have to cut it off.

But your right, it makes a much 'classier' looking connection.

You might want to source out bare connectors rather than buying the insulated ones. It would probably be a bit cheaper and a whole lot handier! :)

OK, I'll go with the Andersens and the corrosion proof safety boots on each side for a little extra corrosion protection. Now I gotta decide wire size. I think it's 10 ga.
If it's 12ga, do they make a lighter connector for 12 ga wire?

Sorry for a late response but did you get this done and what gauge wire did you use ?

What amperage draw are you applying to the circuit ?
