Hi Folks,
I thought I would wade in on this issue. I am not a true diesel guy, however I know a little about them. If the engine has a precombustion chamber the engine will be a little louder (clatter) than if the engine does not have a precombustion chamber. This I believe is true of most diesel engines regardless of the mfg. and maybe a diesel guy can confirm. I agree with the previous post that it would not hurt to have a diesel tech listen to the engine to confirm the rattle.
