I think I finally found the hydraulic fluid leak on the 750B I recently purchased. This appears to be some type of spin-on filter housing. Can anyone tell me what this is? I am hoping there is an "O" Ring that has failed. It is located at the right rear of the bulldozer.

Thanks

Here is a wider-angle view so you can see where the part is on the dozer.

I hired a guy that had just become the proud owner of one of these. One hose after another blew! After he was done my project, I understand the blowouts continued. Finally, I understand one of the hydrostat motors failed, leaving the machine sitting and abandoned in his yard!

Are these machines a lemon of sorts?

Hopefully not. Have done many hours of work and have blown only one hose.

Have any idea what the part is?

I don't know anything about these critters. Just a wild guess. First impression is its a filter and if not that a second guess would be an accumulator.

the transmission oil filter looks to be the only element type filter on the 750B

Sure does LOOK like a filter. You tried to see if it would spin off ?

I talked to John Deere and the transmission filter they show is a straight spin-on filter. This one looks more like a housing and the schematic that "joecdeere" posted looks like an element under a housing. i just wanted to make sure what I was working on.

There's a serial number break for trans/hyd filter eariler model had spin on as in this parts photo. Later serial # had canister type. Here's the SN break:TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER(SERIAL NO. 731274- )

Thanks Guys. I got the filter and "O" Ring. I will install this weekend. I hope this solves the leak issue
