Like Jeff said, need location and budget. A JD 4052 like my neighbor has is probably what you need, but you may need 2. Another might be like a PowerTrac or similar to get around on very uneven terrain and the trails.

I believe the OP may be in Canada (Quebec)

If he isn't going to buy until next summer he has time to study up.

Even if he was to cut his wood cutting plans by half, he would still need a lot more tractor than he has been looking at. Maybe a compact and a larger one as well. Going to need a good PU as well.

But at least he has the time to look into it.

Also a firewood processor... unless he doesn't want to have time left for his sawmill and orchard. if I had that much land and plans I would consider two tractors and a self loading trailer; one smaller, to run the winch. The other larger, to pull the trailer after loading it. The second one also could have a cab, which is especially handy when spraying in the orchard.

Your perfect tractor for what you do has to be bigger than you expect to use. Never go smaller. It just gets you and your tractor in trouble. 40-60 hp sounds like a good place to start. Find several dealers close to you and go look. You will know when you sit in it if it feels right.
Kioti, John Deere, New holland, Kubota, MAHINDRA, LS, RK.... They all are going to a decent tractor.

Yes I fully agree. A second tractor should be considered. Might want to consider a midsized compact for getting in, around, between and under the trees to obtain the specific tree for harvest. A second larger tractor in the 60hp range for hauling and stacking wood cords. Good luck and give it alot of planning.

Hello!

Going to try later to update the profile, but i needed to clarify things.

Location: western part of Quebec, near Ontario lines.

Now for the cords of firewood. Either you guys consider me insane or we just do bot have the same units. A cord of firewood here is 8遅4遅16鋳.

Last season i did 43 of those cords with my atv, a snowmobile, one sled, chainsaw.
Split by axe (in winter birch is like butter), manully loaded into my 8 pick-up box and my 4遅8 tandam trailer to be delivered with love and a small ache!

So yes, i am talking avout 100 cords. I am buying a small firewood processor to manage that much.

You guys do not go walk the dog with your chainsaw?

Joking. I will give more info and feedback when i am back home.

Thanks for the feedback!

For stability on slopes and stability lifting 1,000 kg + trees with the Loader you need a tractor with at least 66" width and a minimum bare tractor weight of 3,700 pounds. This is a good weight for field work over 20 acres. Consider Three Point Hitch mounted Pallet Forks for moving occasional 1,500 kg trees.

A Kubota MX model is one example. With cab and loader about $50,000 Canadian.
The new MX models have two part rear wheel rims furnished with R1/ag and R4/industrial tires, so wheels can be spread wide to increase stability on sloped ground.

A 5,000 pound bare weight tractor one increment wider than a 3,700 pound bare weight tractor will keep you safer but be less agile working the twenty acres you wish to develop.

If you decide on an open station tractor consider loading the rear tires with liquid.

I live in Canada where it gors from +35C in summer to -45C in winter. I want a 4x4 tractor with a cab.

If you decide on a cab equipped tractor, the cab weight will place ample weight on the rear wheels and tires, therefore inflate rear tires with air. Cab will somewhat raise the tractor center-of-gravity.

Finding the perfect tractor is every bit as easy as finding the perfect carry pistol. Come to think of it, I've done that about 5 times too:)

If you wanted "adequate" in lieu of "perfect" you'd stand a better chance. With your tasks, it seems like too tall an order for a single tractor to fill.

Me thinks you have more experience than most us and know what you will need. Just check on the attachments you need and fit the tractor to them.

I don't think I've ever seen a firewood processor - maybe some larger outfits have them. But veryone I know just cuts and splits their firewood by hand with chainsaw and axe.

Hmm..... Is it common for the firwood processors to be run off a tractor PTO? Does that change anything about the size of tractor to get?
