NEED HELP PLEASE! KUBOTA RTV 900 BAD TRANNY ?

As tough as it is to do at times if I was mine I would drop it off at the dealer and have them check it out. You might get a pleasant surprise on the repair cost.



One more silly question, you mentioned the fluid is new. Did the previous owner change it prior to you purchasing the unit? If so did he use UDT or SUDT Kubota fluid? If he went to a place like Tractor Supply and bought universal hydraulic tranny fluid and put it in there is a good chance that would cause the problem you're having.

Its the kubota fluid, theres still a gallon of it left over. Im gonna have to drop it off because im over it.

Im going to take transmission out to night in hopes of finding out why i cant get it into rev or low. I hope fixes it. Ill take pics of what i find or dont.

SOME good news, The tranny not shifting was due to the guy not adjusting the cables right, 2 hours later i have all gears.. BUT its still very weak like it has no pump pressure. Where is the screw to turn the pump up a little? I remember seeing the thread but cannot seem to find it now.

Let me start by saying I know next to nothing about a RTV, but I wouldn't pull it until you can do some diagnostics with a pressure gage. Once its out you will likely be guessing at what's wrong, unless it's an obvious mechanical problem. I would expect there are test ports on the transmission for troubleshooting. If it is a pressure relief valve problem (or other valve) it can likely be fixed with the transmission in place. I would do nothing beyond eyeballing the simple stuff without a service manual.

I found it,

If you adjust the hst servo to make it a little more agressive, in low range your rtv will spin all 4 tires under a heavy load. The servo is the black valve on top of the transmission at the rear. On the drivers side of the valve there is a flathead screw with a jam nut that adjusts how responsive the hst is. Screw it in makes it more aggressive, out makes it less. The more aggressive it is, the more it will load the engine down and get power to the ground, but too much will just bog out the motor and you will have to back out of the pedal so that the engine does not stall on a hill.

Its a really easy adjustment, if you need any more help let me know.

I tried turning it all the way in and all the way out, no differance at all.. Still slow and hardly moves its self/slow to respond.

Im gonna look for the relief valves..


Well after taking it for a very weak slow drive around the front yard im thinking two things, the relief vales are stuck ( not likely ) and 2 the pumps or drive motor is junk... In gonna get a gauge tomorrow and check pressures. Anything else you guys can think of with this heap?
