Need help with clear coat paint removal

Hi folks, I need advice on how to remove the peeling clear coat from my JD 970's grill top (around the emblem) without damaging the underlying green plastic which has good color. The plastic under the peeling clear coat is in good shape so I want to take off the peeling clear coat and let it go at that.
Any ideas would be most welcome here.

Klean Strip makes a paint stripper for just base clear paints. Supposed to leave primers intact. You might check the can for plastic use. Called "Peeler."
