On some models you can pull the screen from the other side.
If you have clean containers and a funnel that you can put a couple of paint screens and or some cheese cloth to pour the lightly used oil thru you can reclaim it.

Yes you can do that, I was on the ground under tractor so it was easier to just catch oil and top off what was loss, for me that was easier. If I had a lift I would have strained and reused. I forget about straining, thanks for input. Thank you.

Just trying to understand...does the same screen go all the way through to the filter on the other side? One screen for both the HST & HYD oil?

It is only one filter and mine only comes out the one way because it fits in a housing, if it came out other side I wouldn't need to take big filter off before I could get to cover where steel mesh cylinder is located. The instructions for changing oil and filters are the same for my Branson as your instructions for your Branson. Try the instructions and diagrams and it will become clear. Thanks

I get all my filters and lubricants from NAPA. They have good cross references for just about everything. My BX is purported to be finicky about filters and oil. I use Delo 400 engine oil and their best hydraulic oil. 1500 hours and no problems. Their branded filters are made by WIX. Ask for their fleet or military discount depending on your situation. You will be amazed at the discount from counter prices and they still make money. Lubricants are in the 40%+ range. Have been a NAPA customer for 50+ years.

Well, I pulled the big filter on my 2400h and it seems to be different than the other models I'm supposing. I could not locate the screen or the parts to access it. This is what mine looks like after I pulled the big filter on the right side of the machine.

The parts manual does indicate the existence of the screen only for the HST 00 series. It's on the suction line for the HST pump. By the way, the screen is also called strainer most of the times.

Looking at the parts breakdown ptsg posted in looks to me like it would be removed from the opposite side of the case.

Yes, I would agree. This is a picture from the other side where the smaller filter is located.

Is the screen/strainer part number 10 in the diagram you posted ptsg? The document appears to be cut off on the bottom. If it is part number 10 then it appears there are two screens?

Also, the picture I posted of my machine had two lines coming out of the filter housing but I can only see one line on the diagram.
