I had a King Kutter 5' brush hog on my old 8N tractor (bought the 2 together some years back), now I have the DK40SE I went to move the brush hog over and it looks like the previous owner of the 8N had to cut the shaft to get it to fit. The end has definitely been cut on the half shaft that goes to the tractor, so now the shaft is too short to work with the DK40, The shaft is a triangular shaft. I don't really want to buy a whole new PTO shaft especially since the mower has a slip clutch on that end of the shaft.

What are my options? I have looked to see if I can get a half shaft but with no luck so far. Anyone know of any place that sells just a half shaft in this style?
I think I have read that the triangular shaft is a European style?
If I have to buy a whole new shaft can I buy one without the slip clutch and mount the existing slip clutch on it?

Thanks

You can buy just the tube at most farm stores. Then have or diy it welded on the old coupler.

I had to cut a bad spot out of the pto shaft on one of my rotary cutters and extend it a couple inches, I just bought a length of matching tubing, cut out the bad spot on the old tubing and welded on the new piece.

It works perfectly!

Well that answers my next question on the 11 inch extender, maybe just a new PTO shaft. I can't find the triangular tubing to even build a new half

Had a close problem. Got a brush hog from a friend with the same end. Tractor end was gone tho. Couldn't find one or afford a whole new one but my brother got me a different shaft for $50. But you can find a good few on craigslist for around that
