need hyd advice

I have a Bobcat 863 skidsteer manual states you can use 10-30 oil if you can,t get their hyd oil. What other oils are compatable

I'd never, ever use motor oil in any hydraulic system, even if the manual says it can be used. If I remember the manual for my 773, it said in an emergency and even then, I'd shy away from it. Lets face it, if you were to have a catastrophic failure causing loss of significant amounts of hydraulic oil, you'd likely not have enough motor oil to fill it anyway so why not use what was intended to be used? You certainly wouldn't save enough money to replace the pump if the failure was caused by the wrong oil!

Just my $.02.

10/30 motor oil will be just fine, have run it in several hydraulic systems for years, including 553, 753, 773, 853, and NH ls 160 skidsteers.
There is quite a debate on this versus Hydraulic oil for skidsteers, at skidsteerforum.com and either seem to work, what best?, who really knows??
