Finally got my new (to me) PHD mounted on my B3200, gear box rotates just fine......... I posted earlier about the auger being bent, but a couple of other questions have come up..... In the second pic, how do you check oil level? My other question is about the PTO coupling in the last pic. Someone has drilled a hole in it to accommodate a bolt that apparently (somehow) replaced the old push pin lock that had failed. Obviously I'll need to have that U joint replaced, but I'm wondering how much that might cost? I'll need it replaced as well as have the auger straightened. Someone posted that the auger could be fixed for around $50. TSC has a 9" auger that will fit for $130...... It won't see much use, so I hate to tie up too much..... Lastly, is the PTO's (inner) shaft supposed to be stationary or is it froze?

I believe the plug on the side of the gear box is the oil level hole, the fill hole is located on the top. Level is checked just like you have it in your picture, hooked up with auger down.

I've got two PTO couplings with push pin locks and holes. Evidently at some point, some PTO shafts must not have had the groove in them for a pin lock, so you could then just use a bolt. Not much of problem using a bolt, as you don't run a PHD at full PTO RPM. You could repair the push pin, most TSCs have the replacements in stock, I've done it before. Less than $10 for the kit and takes about 15 minutes to replace.

The square inner shaft should slide fairly freely.

Thanks so much Gunny! The square inner shaft can't be moved by hand. Can this be repaired without replacing the whole thing?

You should be able to get it out- set it up and try some pentrating oil in the gap between the inner shaft and the square hole- let it soak a few days and then tap lightly on the yoke, If it still won't move, you could drill a hole in the outer shaft to get some oil up into the other side of where they come together (if there is a hole on the gearbox end of the shaft that leads down to the inner shaft, you can just add the oil into that end and drilling would not be needed)
