I would like to get some advice on what brand and size of box blade and brush hog for my L3830. The implement Limitations are 72in 926Lbs. for the rotary cutter and 65in 880Lbs for a box blade. I believe my tire width is a little over 70in with R4s. I'll have to measure again. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, ---Shane

Shane, for me personally, I prefer both box blade and rotary cutter that are a little wider than the outside of the rear tires. For the box blade, first preference for me would be the same width as the bucket on the FEL.

Bird, Thanks. The Manual calls for 65in box blade but loader is 72in. Is the manual conservative? I have 39 hp.

In my opinion Kubota manuals are quite conservative, but of course, it would make a difference as to the kind of ground and terrain you're working. I used a 5' box blade and rotary cutter with my B2710 and would not want anything smaller. For your tractor, I'd want 6' models myself, especially if you have a 6' wide FEL bucket; others may have a different opinion.

I've been reviewing this issue as well for my "yet to be delivered" L3130 HST.

Your tractor has a bit more "grunt" than mine, but I went with a 6' Box Blade to cover the tracks of the R4's. The unit I bought is a Bush Hog SBX720. Per Bush Hog the unit is rated to a MAXIMUM of 35HP with 4WD. The unit weighs 550 pounds. The Bush Hog RBX720 is rated to a MAXIMUM 40HP with 4WD and weighs in at 829 pounds. Bush Hog RBX Series

On the cutter I decided to go with the 5' Bush Hog SQ600, however the consensus of the board here at TBN was that the tractor would pull a 6' cutter too. Per Bush Hog, I'm a little lite for even the 5 footer (by 1 PTO HP) so I decided to stick with the smaller unit. However the SQ720 is rated for a minimum of 30HP and should fit your setup nicely. I would go 6' on the Box Blade. You shouldn't have a problem with that. On the Rotary Cutter I would go 6' also. The L3830 should have plenty of power for those.

Kieth, I wonder if the 280 series rotary cutter is too much for my tractor or the RBX box Blade. I see the woods Gb72 is 555Lbs. Could'nt find the weight on woods HB72 box blade. or bushhog 280 rotary cutter. Wow! I thought I was through with the decisions. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Go with the 72" box blade, my L3130 has no problem pulling a 65".

Let me know how that works out. I'll be needing one after summer to mow aprox 1 acre. Mostly grass, weeds and some pencil sized saplings along tree line. Also if I put the upper 5 acres in CRP next year I'll need something for that as well.

How well would a rotary cutter work for the actuall lawn areas? The lawn will be another aprox 2/3 acre.
