Talking to my local dealer about buying a snow blower for my B3200..... Never owned/operated one, so I'm hoping some members may be able to chime in......

Dealer is suggesting their Land Pride SB1064 for my tractor... Blower is going to run about $2975.00, manual, no chute adjusters.... From what I'm reading there are skid shoes as an option & I didn't get a price on those...

Using it on 750' of gravel drive..... Do they perform well on gravel?

Will I need chains for my tractor when using it?

I'm surprised to hear that skid shoes are an option.....any blower that I have owned (I've had several) all came with adjustable height skid shoes. With the skids appropriately adjusted, a gravel driveway is not an issue. The model suggested by your dealer sounds appropriate for your model tractor.....If you anticipate having to re- direct the chute often, a hydraulic or electric rotator sure saves the old back and neck....been there. I have never needed chains for snow blowing.

If the gravel drive is frozen then shouldn't be much problem. If not, the adjust the blower shoes (it should come with adjustable shoes) for a higher setting to get the blower up higher so it doesn't pick up the gravel. Also, buy plenty of spare shear bolts. I too have a gravel driveway and did have a snowblower but sold it. I spent more time replacing shear bolts than I did blowing snow. Now I either use the bucket, front mount PA plow, or snow pusher box and it's much faster. The advantage of the blower (when it is running like it should and not busting pins) is it doesn't leave the snow piles like my current attachments.

Thanks for the input! Given your location, I'm sure you're well versed on snow removal..... Yeah, Land Pride lists several options on this blower.....

Bolt-on reversible lower wear bar.

Gear driven chute rotator Allows choice of three rotator options: manual drive, electric actuator, or hydraulic motor.

Shearbolt protected impeller and auger.

Three skid shoe options.

Dealer wants $1,000+ for installing electric chute rotation!!

Thanks George for the info! You've brought up an issue (shear bolts) that might give me cause for further investigation! I'm trying to get away from my rear blade disrupting all that gravel by going to a blower, but I might be going from one issue to still another....

If it is possible, turn your rear blade so that the '(' is facing forward and go slower. Most of your gravel will stay put and you will still move snow.

I have the same Kubota B3200 and you will not need chains. Landpride is a nice blower but look around for others that are a bit less expensive. Main thing to look for is a 4 blade fan and I would keep it about 60" in width.
