Hi guys. Mike Heidrick (Deere 3320 owner - don't hold that against me please! LOL)

I need my TBN friends who can appreciate a hobbyist competeing against pros. I am in a Dewalt tools contest. I was to build a project competeing aginst the Top 17 finish carpenters Dewalt selected last September. The public then votes for their favorite project. I submitted as my project idea a 3-piece play kitchen for my daughter.

My project is here:
Mike Heidrick's Top 17 Contest Play Kitchen.

Now the voting has started.

If you like the play kitchen and can appreciate a Wood Working project for a kid I sure could use your vote. I worked pretty hard on this - during the weekends and at night as I have a full time 60+ hour regular job like many others here. Wood Working is my hobby along with my CUT.

Some of the pro contestants are playing up their professional years of experience and their other projects in the news papers and online - some feel they have this all bagged up.

That really gets to me and makes me want to show a hobbyist can perform just as well.

Sure could use some TBN support.

Please and thank you.

You can vote 3X a day per dewalt account from now till 12/14/2008. Signing in does not send spam and you will not be bothered by Dewalt.

Again, thanks.

Mikie

Wow, I don't know how you find time to do the woodworking and put together a website like that in addition to your job. Very impressive.

Mike,

Nice job on the Play Kitchen.

Did they give you some tools for this?

I went through the contenstants and looked at their projects, and while everyone is good with some quality work, Stan Foster and his curved staircases are just unbeivable. He's at a level that nobody else there is even close to!!!

Top 17 Finalists

I don't know of anything more difficult the making wood curve and attaching stuff it it. He makes it look easy and his joinery appears flawless. Whatever he charges, he's worth it.

got my vote...cute kid, great work and TBN memeber wins out. Although I agree that the curved staircase is unreal.

Great shop BTW I thought I had a lot of stuff in my garage...

All the top 17 competitors are awesome and most of the submitted projects are just outstanding.

A few forums are upset at my entry in the contest! LOL

THANKS so much for the support so far. Come on 12/15!

Mike,
For some reason the link you provided gave an error so I went here
DeWalt's Top 17
and when I clicked on Mike Heidrick See Project I got an error.
Perhaps it does not want me to connect from France.
I got the same Server Error when I clicked on the other guys.
Shucks! Truly I would have voted 3 times a day for you untilt he end of the contest, I'm like that.
Something that doesn't take a lot of my time and can help out somebody else, sure I'll do that.

I am also a DeWalt Top 17 contender. I feel fortunate to have made it into that group and had the time of my life building a dual curved stairway for the contest. I am not asking for your vote, but rather for everyone to go to DeWalt's Top 17 and view all the fine entries. You then just decide which project you feel deserves having a the Top Finish Carpenter award given to.

I am against networking for myself...as this is not fair to the ones that dont, At least this method is fair to all and gives all 17 projects more exposure than they would have had.

Thanks for viewing and then voting for your favorite.

Stan, Welcome to TBN! Your work is just beautiful we are lucky to have you join the TBN family. I look forward to your contributions to this community as it appears that you will hve a lot to contribute. I always look for members who contribute to the wealth of information in the community and not just join to get something out of the community. I hope I'm saying that right without being offensive. I see a lot of people who join just to ask questions and ask other people to help them with information and experience and then they do not contribute. With your high skillset I hope you stick around and become a contributor. Good luck with the contest and again welcome to TBN.

Congrats to Stan Foster the stair guy!!! Awesome job and well deserved. I tried my best and the superior project won in the end - the way it is supposed too. Great competeing with ya Stan! Enjoy the Cherry - you earned it!

Awesome job to all the rest of the 17 as well!!!! We all won this time around.

thanks for all the support!

Mike,

Thanks for the update. Nice to hear Stan won the competition, thought he should probably be disqualified for being at a different level then everyone else. There are just so very few master craftsman like him out there that it's not fair to the average guy to have to compete against him.

I didn't vote at all, but if he wasn't in there, I'd have given you my vote. I just couldn't do so with him in the same competition.

Hope you'll post some more of your projects, there are allot of us on here who are amateur woodworkers, and we always enjoy seeing projects that we can aspire to.
