Like Jason and kennyd said, don't worry about the difficulty disengaging FWD. My 755 has been like that since new, about 17 years and 950 hours. I just stop, back up a foot or three, and it'll disengage quite easily.
Don't want to force that lever- my son busted the manual transfer case shift lever on my F-250 because he didn't know to unbind it when trying to come out of 4 wheel low.
