Need Opinions on buying a new 5525

I too think that if your going to be working on hillsides that you should atleast consider the 6415. As others have said its a lot more tractor than the 5525 so it wouldn't get pushed around as easily on your hills.

I bought my 5525 several months ago, and like ddvinia, I have not had a single moment's problems. My only regrets are those that were caused by me, like not getting EPTO. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
As far as how it would perform on the hills, I have no clue since the highest hill around here is a rice field levee. My final prices were about 22% off of list. I looked at the 6615 as well, but because it is a very popular tractor around here it was not discounted near as much. Also, because I already had a considerable investment in Category I and Category II implements, which I also use on my 4610, the 5525 allowed me get into more power and comfort and not have to buy all new tools to fit the Category II/III 6615. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Sorry for the delay in posting. It's just been one small thing after another.

I can't disagree with all the points made regarding purchasing a 6415. The main problem I have is that I've arrived at a new tractor, and more importantly the cost, incrementally. Now, I'm pretty much at the limit of what I want to spend - you know, it's like bidding, at some point you have to quit.

As far as baling, I round bale with a Krone KR125 and square bale with a NH 311. I square bale onto the ground. Except for maybe a basket, baling into a wagon, kicker or otherwise wouldn't be feasible because of the steepness and the small size of most of the fields.

I appreciate hearing from all who posted, keep the info coming. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions as I go along.

I was in the same exact position. I wanted a cab tractor and I just could not justify the 6415. The 5525 has been wonderful and I am sure if I bought a 6415, I would want a 6420 instead. :)
