Harrisburg/Cairo/Pennsboro/Beatrice and Mountain WV.
I like Ritchie county.About 5 years ago there was only one cash machine in the whole county, talk about laid back.
Ya gotta love places like that.

They literally made a Mountain out of a Mole Hill, when they changed the name of the town. I think it was in the 1950's?

Ritchie County is laid back all right. Last time I looked, there was one fast food place in the county, and that wasn't even in town, it was up by the highway (the Dairy Queen at route 16).

Grantsville and Calhoun County is even more so. Calhoun County is the only county in West Virginia without a single traffic light in the ENTIRE county! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ha, that does bring back memories. I only got to cruise Jimbo's and Fat boys in an ole 62 ford station wagon with a 390 engine. pretty poor. but I had just got my license and it was a hand me down. BBF was awesome, best fast food around for awhile. BBF = Burger Boy Food-O-rama i think. Anyone one else see those in other parts of the county? Last I saw of em around here was mid 70s ....and that is a huge guesstimate, really not sure when they closed down.
Richie county used to have more deer than anywhere I've ever seen. I saw huge herds out there tween Cario and Harrisville.
I took a real estate class at PCC way back when. Mineral Wells and the Lubeck area were both just starting to grow. The instructor, a local realtor, speculated that Lubeck would be the best place to invest over Mineral Wells ...and he gave all of these reasons that made sense at the time. But boy was he ever wrong. Eric, I figure wally world will help in the long run and you'll find a buyer for the rest of the land you want to sell. Every time I go thru that area I see something new. But then again like Andy said, P-burg is changing pretty fast also. Corridor D is changing the face of the whole area.
Didn't intend to hijack your thread herdfan ....but at least you found quite a few folks from the area with leads to multiple tractor dealers. Hope that helps.

BBF home of the Whirling Satellite.

Lubeck may really take off once corridor D is complete.

If anyone is wondering what Corridor D is,it is a section of Route 50 that is currently being built around P-burg WV into Ohio.

Thanks for all the responses. I especially liked the mothman statue (although the rear picture was kinda scary).
My wife and I just returned from an anniversary cruise to the Caribbean. It will take a bit to adjust from 80 degrees back to the "cooler" temperatures. It looks like we missed some pretty cold nights, though.

I spent some time in Gallipolis before we left town. Jividen's seemed like they would be a good place to deal with. They were more excited about the Zetor line than the Kubotas. Looks like the Zetors they had were heavier and more inexpensive than the Kubotas. I also called several other dealers within a few hours' driving distance and got mixed results. Botom line is that there aren't many decent used tractors set up how I want in good shape at a low price. The lower priced tractors with loaders (and adding a hoe later) are either resells from an auction or have high hours. Typical story I bet, huh?

A TBN member did take a look at that Kubota in PA for me, gave me a favorable report, and sent lots of digital pics, so I think I'll venture further north and take a closer look myself. I won't divulge the member's name in case he doesn't want to start a long-distance tractor buyer inspection/brokerage service (even though that may not be a bad idea?), but the folks on this site certainly restore one's faith in humanity - Thanks to all!

Herdfan,
I had the same idea as you when I first started shopping for a tractor. I wanted one 2 or 3 years old in exec condition. They were hard to find, but I did find a couple. However, the price of the ones i found were so close to the price of new, that I ended up buying new. I had to finance 3/4 of my purchase price and with the better financing on new ones that helped tip the scales in favor of new.
Good luck in your search for the right one. If you need me to take a pic or two of any you find in this general area, just give me a shout.

Well I decided to forgo the used equipment (and the long trip to look) and bought a new Century 3045 TLB. I ordered the heavier loader and bigger hoe and hopefully will be ripping up some dirt next week. For not much more money, I'll know what's been involved with every hour on this one and at least won't have to worry about a potentially expensive repair for several years. I'll attach some pics when it comes in. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks
My hills are steeper than they look (at least for me), especially when cutting them with my old Ford without ROPS.
It's basically a death sentence if anything would happen!
Now I just have to wait - pretty tough to do.
