Need to build a log arch. Looking for a little advice...

I built this one out of 2 x 2 x 1/4 inch. cost was less than $100. Pawn shop come along (4ton), flee-bay pulley, Old trailer axle and wheels found on side of road.

Multiple trips to the woods. The property with the trees is 2.5 hours from my home so I'll need to drive the skid steer 2.5 hr, load the trailer and then drive 2.5 hr back home to empty the trailer. I'd then dead head back to the woods so I can pick up the skid steer. With the arch I could get the logs to a landing and then winch them onto the trailer so only one trip is needed.

I know that with my skid steer that I can pick up a 30' utility pole from the butt end. I'll probably have to do the same here because the trails are not wide enough to pick them up in the center.

I thought it would be an easy log arch to add a tongue to a VW rear axle. There are several versions of this style.

Well, I drew up the log arch on Wednesday and the material order has been placed. Should be picking it up on Friday so I can burn it together over the weekend. I went with a 1200 lb Northern axle spindle and hub. Got the axle welded in tonight. The spindle does not have a brake flange so I guess that ship has sailed. Instead of using a boat winch to lift the log, i’ll Be using a lever chain hoist.
