I need a landscape rake to spread and level some dirt and loam over about a 1/3 acre area. I have a BX22 and the dealer nearby suggested the Woods LRC60 Landscape Rake with the gauge wheels. He has one left over from last year and is offering it for $800. Is that the right sized rake for my tractor? Does that sound like a good price? If not, any suggested dealers I should try? Thanks for any input.

These usually don't take a lot of HP to pull. Some with scarifiers in front will take more power as will ones that also have a flat blade option.

Make sure that it will cover your tracks WHEN ANGLED to the sides...I imagine a 60 " anlged should cover a BX22 track...but measure...don't trust me! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Also look for used locally...these are often used by someone to put in their own yard for one season...you save and they get some of their money back too.

The BX22/2200 will handle a 72" unit without any problem at all. This is what I have used on my Kubota BX22.

$800 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I paid $260 for a locally made rake. It would have cost $250 but you have to pay 9.5% sales tax on that price. For $260 you don't pay any sales tax. Confusing isn't it. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks for the input and loaner offer /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. I am holding off on the dealer option...too pricey. Looking into the Howse 72" w/Guide wheels. If I have Turf Tires- will the 72" still be ok?

Another Question...I also need to level out a 1000 sq. foot area (grass now) to a 3" grade, will just the rake do the job? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I just bought a new Woods LRC60 Landscape rake with guage wheels and I paid $550 total for it. I bought it from a dealer in the Cincinnati area. It took about 3 weeks for the dealer to get it and I picked it up when it came in to the dealer.

Seems to be on my BX2200. Actually, I bent the implement end of the top link, the part that screws in...I think when backing up pushing some dirt...so the turf tires probably do have more than enough traction if it is not mud you are dealing with... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I don't have gage wheels [yet] and that certainly would keep the rake from digging in as much as mine does. Mine is also a 72" because I bought it for my larger tractor.

Henro I borrowed a 72" rake a couple weeks ago and used it with the B2910. I had to keep looking behind me to see if it was still there because I felt no strain on the tractor, something tells me that the little tractor could easily pull 72" of rake and the B2910 could pull something like a 96" unit? Maybe it was just the fact that I was cleaning out a field with no rock, but the rake didn't seem to drag down the tractor at all.

I have no problem pulling the 72" rake with my BX22. As for the grade, that is dependent on your ability to use the tool. For the most part, I usually just level or put a slight grade on the area that I am working. It can be done by lowering one wheel of the rake, but as I have said, it will depend on your ability to control the unit. Like any tool, there is a learning curve that you have to master. My York brand is easier to control for these purposes, but at present, it is out of service. I snapped off one of the wheels while backing up. That is the one thing that a Landscape rake doesn't like.... being pushed in a direction that it isn't intended to go..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
