Jinma 304
Hello All,
I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. I am trying to get into my Wife's horse arena with my Jinma 304, and have folded down the Rops, which clears the overhead fencing just fine, but the Muffler that sticks up will not quite fit, any solutions that you know of?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

Hi Rick-
How much clearance do you need? Some guys have cut the end of the pipe to put a "flap" on it to keep the rain and varment out of the exhaust. There is also the option of turning the exhaust so that it runs under the tractor -not any good if you have high grass that may be ignited by a hot muffler. -Ed

I ripped my muffler off (low branch) so I just re-routed it under the bottom. Here is a horrible pic. It is tucked up pretty well and also keeps the diesel's exhaust out of my face. I am very happy with it.

I had to cut mine down on my Kama. I dont know how much clearance you need but you can pick up one of the rain caps at tractor supply.

I have bent mine enough on tree branches that it is cracked at the base of the muffler. I am going to relocate mine horizontal going forward, then down alongside the radiator to a point near the front axle. I need to do it this weekend before it falls off as it picked up a "buzz" last night and that is when I found the crack in the tube. Because of the support struts on my FEL, I cannot run it straight down. Running forward and down will allow me to add support struts to the loader frame and not really block any access to the engine for maintenance.

You might, with some basic auto parts store exhaust parts(elbow and clamps), be able to cut the pipe above the muffler and put an elbow on it to lower the height enough to gain clearance to enter the arena.

If it is an electric wire, keep a notched stick on the tractor when working in this area and just push the wire up. Alternative , again if it is electric is to bury a piece of sheathed wire under ground, then up the post and re-connect to complete the circuit.

I had trouble getting my KAMA 354X into my garage due to the height of the exhaust. I cut the exhaust pipe off above the muffler with just enough pipe left to install a flapper that I bought at my local NAPA dealer.

I went the flapper route on my first Jinma, and soon found it to be an unsatisfactory solution. Might be different in your part of the country, but around here the flappers are for tubing manufactured to the inch standard. My Jinma had a metric pipe. So right outa the chute the fit was poor. The second problem is that the flappers add height of their own. Consider that the engine is running when you drive through doorways. Obviously - when the engine is running - the flap is standing up. Plus, the flap itself is "taller" than the clamp is round. So you need to add the height of the OPEN flapper to how much you're going to cut off the pipe.

I found the following to be a more satisfactory solution on my next tractor. Remove vertical muffler section from 90 degree manifold pipe elbow. Take it to a muffler shop. Ask them to separate exhaust pipe from muffler body at #1, then to remove desired amount of pipe with a second cut (#2). Weld remaining (upper) section back on the muffler. Reinstall.

I cut my exhaust pipe with a "sawz-all" and went to NAPA and got a flapper valve for my Jinma 224. I don't know it the 304 has a different size pipe but the make flappers in several size increments so pipe size doesn't matter. Even if the pipe is a different size than the flapper the make a mulitude of enlargers/reducer sleeves so it will work.
Cut the pipe about 4 inches shorter than it has to be and take the cut off piece to the auto store and get your flapper and sleeve, clamp if necessary.

Hello All,
I do not think I can go the down pipe route, as much as I want to, it looks like my loader frame would be in the way.
If I cut the pipe shorter and install a flapper, how much louder is the tractor, it seems pretty loud right now, without being cut
Thanks all,
Rick
