need to replace B&S 23HP Intek V Twin

I have a husqvarna YTH2348 I bought in 2007. It came with the 23HP Briggs and Stratton V twin INtek engine. I need a new engine. Are there any options besides a new exact replacement? I believe it came with an optional Kohler engine. Are there other engines that would bolt on without modifications?

Nearly any motor of similar dimension will bolt in. Measure length and diameter of crankshaft, mounting bolt pattern, and location of exhaust and other components.
I often repower with whatever I can get a good deal on.
