Hi all, i have intention of building something to cut wood (small trees), max 12-14 cm thick.

The biggest problem is that i need to slow down the PTO rpm. I have a little Iseki tx1300F, which gives abt 470 rpm.

I need to slow this down to about 60rpm. This would involve gears.

The smallest PTO gear i can find is 13 teeth. This would mean that the big wheel connected would be about 100 teeth.

Anybody know if this kind of stuff is for sale? Or do i end up having this built?

thanks,
M.

Assuming you are running some type of circular saw blade, why not use a belt drive? Also, why 60 rpm? That seems very slow unless it's a huge blade. 7 inch saw blades run 3500 to 4000 rpm. I would think any other saw blade should run at a speed to get a similar tip speed.

How about the final drive from a self propelled combine of forage harvester. It would be a tough enough gearbox for what you have in mind. If you run the tractor at about half throttle you should be close to the right speed. If you need further speed reduction, a double belt drive would do the job.

Sorry i am new to all of this, just own a tractor since 6 months. Also have no engineering background, and also am not native English speaking.

What is 'belts on a pulley set'?

thx

That is an extremely dangerous machine you are contemplating building, I elect to bow out of this project .

I will get in the boat with you

Haha no more dangerous than living in Poland being non-polish...

Thanks for the concern, but the danger factor never stopped me from trying something. Except trying to be careful :)

thx,
M.

Marcel - I watched the video. That is a most dangerous piece of equipment. Get yourself a chain saw and protective gear. Don't build something such as that.
