Need to Stop Eating Red Meat and Fried Foods!

Well looks like I'll have to start tomorrow. I fell victim to beautiful rueben sandwich!

I had a Veggie Reuben sandwich at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Umpqua, Oregon. I eat there once a week. The way they prepare the food is great. The first time I had their Reuben I had to deconstruct it to see what was in it. I swore there was meat in it. Nope. none.
Everyone that works there seem to be on the lean side. They grow most of the food they serve.
There was over 50 cars in the parking lot. This is out in the Douglas County Wine Country.

Even worse my wife has a double genetic whammy of very high cholesterol and diabetes. She was also a meat and spuds sort of person. Now she eats mostly tofu wacked up to look like meat. Expensive and mostly gross. It is rough if you can't have meat or carbs and hate veggies what do you eat.

Get the Atkin's paperback and read it. It explaines how the high carbs in the diet are what contribute to high blood sugar. Many former diabetics who followed the Atkin's diet have all but eliminated High Blood Sugar and High Cholersteral probems. (And with Atkins, she can eat meat, eggs, cheese, chicken, fish and other low-carb foods to her heart's content.) You start out eating 20 or less carbs a day, but all the fat and proteins you want. And - after she gets her blood sugar normalized, the hunger cravings go Way Down! Once you get your weight and blood sugar close to where it's healthy, you can gradually add more carbs to your diet until you find the correct amount that's good for your body...

I'm not a doctor, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express, so don't take my word for it. Read what Dr. Atkins has to say about it all.... I think you'll be Greatly Impressed and Educated about how the body acts and reacts to High Carbs...

Good Luck!!!

I have a friend that had a heart attack and went on the Atkins Diet...he lost over 60 lbs. quickly ...and as you say all his numbers...cholesterol, BP etc. came down to normal....Now being able to abstain from carbs long term is the challenge...but Atkins works...I saw it work on him and some others.

It just seems so crazy. Obviously, like someone posted earlier, science doesn't seem to quite have it nailed down yet.
