As soon as the dealer knew you had invested money in having someone check it over, and then you came back to him....he knew that you were satisfied with the tractor. And he prolly figured you knew it was more value than what he was originally asking. So he upped the price, and prolly knows it will be hard for you to walk away from the deal (as you are vested in it now). It's a game, some like to play, some don't. Some know how, some don't.

IMO, that is bs.

I'd offer him 10,500. That's $500 less than his orginal asking price, the cost of the $500 maintenance that was NOT done.

I think he handled it well. Even at $10,500 with the $4K for the chipper that would be $14,500. He walked away with both for $14,250. Who cares how the dollars break down between the two pieces. Still a good deal.:thumbsup:

imho.....

1) By not informing you of the lack of maintenance, the dealer is not a knowledgeable professional, if he was he would have either performed the maintenance, or at least informed you of the situation.
2) By increasing the price after quoting you, the dealer is unethical. Regardless of the money he has in it, if he was ethical he would honour his original quote.
3) Based on 1 & 2, you are taking a risk with this guy.

Good Luck, regardless of the attractiveness of the deal, you will always be suspect - that is no way to do business - You deserve better!
