I'm also partial to deckovers especially for tractors. If you've ever loaded a drop deck with equipment within an inch of the fenders you'll know what I mean. This pic of my tractor is an example of how the long trailer hauls the load and the truck just pulls it.

I can see the advantages of the deckover that you mention; but what about the higher center-of-gravity compared to a dropdeck? Does that affect handling significantly?

I don't even notice any difference in the handling, you think you would but you don't. The hardest thing to get used to is the width on narrow roads. The fenders on a normal trailer are normally the widest part but ....on a deck-over the whole length of the trailer is the widest point!

My old trailer was a drop deck. This deckover seems to me to be much more stable. Deck height is 34" and doesn't appear to a problem at all. I've mentioned in other posts I'm amazed at how well this twice as large trailer tows compared to my old 7K. No banging and thrashing around just a good solid ride empty or loaded. Honestly with a car on this trailer I can't tell its on there. I need about 5K plus on before I start to notice an increase in load. My old 7K was already crying uncle at 5K load. I'm now a real advocate for under loading a trailer built to tow more than I should than overloading a small one all the time which is what I used to do. And the brakes are fantatic. 2.5V on my controller will pull it and the truck down fast even at approx. 10K total trailer weight. 3.0 will lock them up.
