anyone got a home remedy of sorts to kill living tree stump? I cut down some trees that were stealing water from a hedge row, but the darn things keep trying to grow back. the largest stump is 20 inches.
also, Now that they have full sun how do I get these darn honeysuckles to bloom?

Try drilling six to eight ½" holes about an inch deep right near the bark of the stump. Fill them with rock salt. Keep them filled for a month or so....

It will kill the stump in no time.

I've heard the same thing.

It's not a home remedy, but it is not expensive & I have found very effective.

Tordon RTU by Dow AgroScience

Works on anything with a bark type trunk. Vines or large trees.

Just cut off & wet stump where bark attaches to the wood.

A little goes a long way.

I think about 16.00 per quart.

Roundup applied directly to where the bark meets the wood on a fresh cut stump usualy kills just about anything.

Buy a box of RidX, pour the entire box over a tree stump. Cover the stump with a heavy gauge piece of plastic and then weight down the plastic to keep it from blowing away. Not only will it quit growing, but by next year you can run a regular garden tiller through the stump and it will be gone. It's worked every time for me.

I have had success killing stumps by putting several nail holes in the top of the stump and then putting RoundUp, or Brush and Stump killer on the stump, letting it soak into the holes. I sometimes just put a few fresh cuts in the stump with a hatchet, just to get the stump killer a little deeper into the stump.

Mix liberally, all or some of the following items. 2 big guys. Six pack of beer. Hemi truck with duelly rear, Heavy chain, chain saw, back hoe, black powder, diesel fuel, another 6 pack of beer...
That ought to do it. If it doesn't, you won't care... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
