Do you mean by spilling on ground, or by treating plant stubs.
I have used it in the flower beds on vines that were trying to take over. So far I have not noticed a problem.

Both. It will go down in the roots and when the roots rot it is released into the soil again. But yes the problem is when broadcast sprayed over an area like killing many resprouts or trying to kill kudzu - the vine that ate the south.

Tordon (picloram) is very persistant in the soil. It works good on a lot of hard to kill things such as trees but it can have long term undesirable effects. It kills mainly broadleaf weeds and trees and does not hurt most grasses.

For what you are doing on cut stumps I would use roundup - full strength. Buy the concentrate and do not dilute it. Just pour it directly on the stump. It will do the job and you won't have to worry about residual effects. Roundup only kills what it touches. It does not have any soil activity.

See if you have a chemical supply house carrying generic round-up by the 2 1/2 gal container of 41% concentrate. It will probably cheaper to buy 2 1/2 gals there than 1 gal in a Lowes, etc.

We recently had a new store open nearby called Atwoods.

They had Roundup Pro in 2-1/2 gal for around 100.00, they also had Honcho Plus, Both by Montsanto, both 41% & same specs for about 39.00.

Now have 30 gal Honcho plus for about 420.00.
