It is critical for many around the continental U.S. ... Drove over to my Pearl Millet yesterday and its simply wilted and burning up ... glad I got one cutting off it. The rain has been spotty and any that has come thru has not done much good.

I'll start irrigating again tommorrow and put out 2" of water here at the home place... helps but then again not near as good as mother nature.

You're right about watering, you put down the equivilent of twice a good rainfall with sprinklers and doesn't have near the effect of natural rain.

I think one inch of rainfall equates to 27,200 gallons per acre. That is a lot of natural rainfall.

going to guess rest of this year, and most like next year and one year or there after. we will be in drought. over the years, it just seemed like we always get a few very wet years, then some ok average years, then some dought years. and it always seemed to take 2 to 3 years, to move out of one and get into another. and then just relying on major large storms that do happen. to help push rain into the land of north america.

i just wish, i could get into the stinking wind current, for the initial clouds that come through. my luck has been if i can see the rain coming down 1/2 mile to 1 mile away. it will get in about 1/4 mile of me. and then a sudden large wind will come out of a different direction and cause the rain to take a 90 and never hit me. the result is, all lakes around me are near or are full, and mine are down 10 feet plus. 5 to 6 feet is normal. but at this time of year, i should just be starting dry time / drought time of the year. vs the entire year being a non stop drought....

i normally end up getting sprinkles from a circular current on second time pass of area, but by then nearly all the rain is gone, and nothing but a sprinkle that instantly dries as soon as it hits something.

Luckily we have now started getting adequate rain here in middle Tennessee. I just saw on the news that we have received more so far in July than May and June combined. Go Figure.... Hope you guys start getting what you need.

We are very wet this year here in the UK, the jet stream has shifted south and is now causing low pressure over us instead of high.
Rain rain and more rain, just hope it shifts back soon and we get a summer.

Have had around 3" this week in middle Tn. Very thankful for this rain. Has really brought my soybeans out. Probably will be a little late but have good stand. Cows and goats across road from me dancing for joy now. Their pond was probably within two weeks of being dry.

It has been raining steadily for a couple hours now. Not a hard rain, but a steady soaking in rain. this will be a huge relief, maybe the grass will start to grow again. It has been so dry I could see tire tracks in the grass from a week ago last Friday when I moved some hay up closer to the house for daily feedings. My temporary pasture was in TERRIBLE shape... Somehow I HAVE to expand the grazing area for those horses... ASAP...

Be well all,
David

Rained today while I was at the Deere dealer and of course I was thrilled to see it. Couldn't wait to get home. But--on the five mile ride home the rain slowly petered out to a drizzle, then a few drops and then nothing. As I turned onto my road it was no rain, not even a drop. None, nada, zero, zilch. And that's just the way it is.
