more people are killed each year by negligence discharges with firearms than by dog attacks.

So that makes it OK for a few folks to get killed or maimed by dogs, as long as something else kills more people.

Of course most of us understand some valid reasons for owning a firearm, and I think most of us also understand why some people feel the need to own a dangerous animal.

For a guy who has Sigarms and what appears to be a pit bull as an avatar pic and no tractors what exactly do you stand for this is a tractor forum? Its a free country and all but the comparisons you keep making are all contradictory from my point of view. my .002

Just like so many people who jump to conclusions, it isn't a pit bull in in avatar. I don't think it would matter if I told you the breed.

Hopefully you know the difference between a semi auto handgun and revolver when you see one (I know sometimes the news gets it mixed up, but people believe what they see on the news).

Not sure what you mean by "what exactly do you stand for this is a tractor forum". English was never a favorite class so perhaps you can explain the sentence and what you mean by "stand for".

Let's not forget bird that a firearm is dangerous as well.

That said, what is it now in NY on semi auto's, only 7 round mags now?

Yeah, they're coming for your guns AND dogs.

Somehow I knew that dog in your avatar would be something other than a pit. And yes I know about guns.

And to me I find it interesting how folks use (and rightly so) items and expressions etc to describe their stand point or beliefs or occupation or hobby's etc in sigs and avatars it gives everyone a little insight as to the "personality" of the poster. (IE this is a tractor forum and you apparently dont have one but 2000 some posts but its a free country I am ok with you doing it just a little strange is all haha.)

I did it most all of us do but yours like I said is contradictory to me judging by your repeated attacks on gun owners and comparisons of gun owners and dog owners on a "dog attacks" older gentleman thread and so on just an observation is all.

The reason the dog is in the avatar is because after pushing 50 years, that dog is the best dang dog I've ever had the pleasure of training and getting to know. She was shot at under a trailer and left to die with her puppies. She opened my eyes to the sterotype and beliefs I once held about bully breeds and I came to the conclusion I was wrong (and yes, since then I've worked with other "bully breeds" and still come to that same conclusion about myself being wrong).

I do have to laugh how some automatically think that owning a bully breed somehow implies "toughness", but I can see that same line of thinking with gun owners.

Ultimately, the more powerful a dog is, the more dangerous they can be given circumstances. Likewise, the more "firepower" a gun posesses, the more "dangerous" it can considered to be. Guess what, they're coming after those guns, just like people are coming after dogs.

On a sidenote, what I found interesting was I really tried to find a home for the dog in my avatar after I felt comfortable with her (after about a year), but you should of seen the people who wanted her. Actually kind of sad. Then again, even for a 5lb dog we'd do a home visit to ensure of the surroundings (and people fall over dead when you do a home visit "when it's just a dog") and with a bully breed, the requirements go up 10 fold (and yes, due to their strength and possible tendencies if not cared for properly).

Then again, when I sell a gun face to face, I require a permit from the buyer be it a sidearm or rifle.

Right on, tth!

And hey, all y'all boys defending pit bulls - try training one to point quail. Try training a beagle to kill. Train a poodle to kill, etc., etc., etc. Yes, there might be the occasional oddball dog in a breed that does something not associated with the breed, but, hey, that's why many years ago, breeds were developed. Bred to herd cattle, sheep, hunt, etc. Oh, I just read in local paper that a cocker spaniel attacked and mauled a young boy - nope.

I saw you on the news that night. I love dogs, but some people should not own them. you did what you had to do.
