Neighbor called the Law on me for shooting

That's pretty clever. It's the same with my wife, she comes up with the idea, i only have to make.

Well i decided to try out my new Saiga 12 shotguns today ( got 2, one for me one for my brothers BD present), so i called my next door neighbor and asked him to listen to tell me how noisy everything was.

I shot 18 rounds of 45 acp, 18 rounds of 45 long colt and 24 rounds of 9mm. The wife shot 30 rounds of her 38.

Then i shot 70 rounds of a combination birdshot, 00 buck shot and rifled slugs thru the 2 shot guns. some single shots and alot of them as rapid as i could fire.

the two Saigas work AWESOME.... i had a few rounds not clear after firing, but i was warned this will happen for the first 50-200 rounds. everyone tells me that that will end after i get the gas ports set and springs worked thru.

Towards the end i was rapid firing the entire magazine without any jambs. Lots of fun

The neighbor told me the handguns were louder than the shotgun. But neither was very loud from inside their house.

ya well...that was my M114 155mm Howitzer that he heard......that was a tad noisy.

A few years back down the road from our hunting club one of the old houses was sold. Now the club owns three hundred acres and has been a hunting club since 1955. The club, for the most part, only has people on the range on the weekends and only a few times a year. Well we do have a few shooting weekends with trap and sporting clays competitions but only twice a year. And the weeks before deer season sighting in is always a possibility.

Well the new owners of the property decide to open a bed and breakfast. They advertize the place as a peaceful retreat in the Berkshires. Well they apparently did not do their homework when picking their location and had a fit when we had one of the trap shoot events. They called the State Police and reported automatic gunfire coming from the range. Well in short order we had the troopers at the place asking lots of questions. They left and informed the B&B owners that we have been doing this for a long time and it was within the law and oh by the way the gun club down the road is having a turkey shoot next weekend. The B&B people came up and introduced themselves and we came to an agreement to put them on our mailing list so that they could inform potential guests of the event and be prepared for the noise. They realized that they were the newcomers and we were not about stop shooting.

I would want the address for that B&B.. Turkey shoot!!

I think that is just when driving. I don't think any state can require an "identification card" on demand, since they can't require possession of an ID card at all, unless driving. You may be required to identify yourself by name, though.

As far as guns are concerned, I sure am glad I live where I do. Our county sheriff encourages everyone to have protection, and my neighbors and friends all go shooting just up the road from me. There's a big berm on the side of the BLM road about 1/2 mi up from our land. We're always hearing gunshots from up there. I go up there with my 357, too. About 2 months ago, some Russian friends from church brought up a Mosin Nagant and an SKS. Wow, we had a blast! When I'm by myself, the first 2 rounds of the 357 are loaded w/ snakeshot for rattlesnakes.

I would be investing in plenty of boxes of cheap 12 gauge shells so I could practice every evening. But I'm not the best person to give advice on matter like this. It could be better to try and get to know your neighbors. It's possible that they only know what the media has taught them about guns and could have been hiding under the table when you were plinking. Who knows, maybe you could have a new friend to shoot with.

Quite agree with you.
I think most time if we can think about something on the other people's stand, then we can feel what he is thinking. Then this can avoid many misunderstanding.

If we could get supressors taken off the NFA list, we could all shoot alot quieter. I would be nice to break out the .22's and not have to yell at my son, because we are both wearing muffs. JC

I routinely practice, although not as much as when I was actively engaged in competition target shooting. Instinctive skills take time and muscle memory to develop/maintain and you never know when they will come in handy!
