What time were you shooting?

Shooting was sunday afternoon. 5-6ish maybe...

Burning legally, shooting legal and the like need to be practiced from time to time so people get use to it. When the left goes right it can be confusing for them being out of their element.

That is what I intent to do.

I have to laugh.

Within the first couple of weeks when we moved to our new place "out in the country", I heard someone shooting late at night while I was in bed. I was actually a little upself when I first heard the shooting, thinking to myself who would be shooting at this time of the night. Honestly, I had thought about reporting it, but then I thought "hey, if they're shooting late at night, so can I":D

Just the other week at about 0800 out with the dogs, someone was shooting a BUNCH of rounds in a short amount of time (blasting with an AR or AK most likely). My MIL was outside as well and heard the shooting and asked me if people hunt this early in the morning:laughing:

I am a half mile or so from a private shooting range (with Wednesday night shooting as well), a few miles from a Marine artillery range, and live in the midst of checkerboard Indian reservations. There is usually shooting and often detonation in the distance. I don't even notice it any more. I mostly shoot airguns, which are quiet but quite scary looking, and my few neighbors are used to seeing me prowling the lot for gophers.

A few miles from here they built a regular suburban style development so folks could move to the "country", set up HOAs, and then pretend they are in the city again. They complain about everything from smells (the local egg farm can be a mite potent when the wind is right) to noises to critters. It must be horrible for them... :(

I think it's kind of a good idea for the Officer to check your ID when talking to you. What if you where not there and he came up to a guy who was there and was acting like he was the owner of the place? Who knows what that person might have been doing, or taking from your house. I would want the Officer to check my ID or the ID of anybody they talked to on my land. Seems like a very good way to protect yourself.

A local rifle range is being forced to close down because of all the housing that has been built close to the range, even though the range was there years before the houses where built.

It is all a part of the war on guns, which the local news media is more than happy to join in. The "feature story" is still running on our local news channel. About the "noise problem" and dangerous situation this bad person is doing in the western end of a nearby county. He is "firing high powered rifles" over there and that could be dangerous. As well as some neighbors have reported hearing full automatic fire.. AS if firing a "high powered rifle" or a full automatic firearm was illegal or somehow inherently dangerous. No-ONE has reported anything dangerous, like bullets whizzing around their heads at all but still the news media is running and running this story, showing the ominous no trespassing signs the "bad guy" has at the entrance to his property out in the woods. After all anyone who would put up a no trespassing sign is a no good-nick for sure. As you can tell this has got me fired up.. LD1, if you weren't so far away, I would come over and maybe we could shoot some .44Magnum or .308 Winchester at your place..:D I would bring the guns and ammo.

Noise pollution is noise pollution regardless of the source. The world is getting more cramped for space between people/farms/industries, and the noises they make, decade by decade.

We had a similar case of new homes surrounding a long-established shooting range in southern Maine. That's a tough issue in my mind, but it is created by more and more people with conflicting needs.

The bottom line for me, is there is no inherent right to spread pollution beyond one's property lines. Noise is just another type of pollution.

I think it's good to be thoughtful of others. I don't use my chainsaw on weekends, early mornings or evenings near some neighbors at one corner of my property. I can't stop the chainsaw noise, but I can make it less bothersome.

If you can talk to your neighbor, do so. Let him know he's not not in city anymore and people shoot. Invite him over to shot some clay targets. You might find a shooting friend when you educate him a bit.

Have recently heard shooting at night (late evening) around here. A police officer does live over in that area. Never thought he might be practicing. The neighbor lady (very nice person) asked my wife if I was shooting at night now. But now knows it wasn't me. We also have a super Liberal couple from an Urban area that possibly made some complaints to law enforcement when they first moved here years ago, and won't let me hunt on their property anymore, but I think they were told "Welcome to the country" by local officials. The SA 1911 needs testing a couple times a month, the M1 Garand a couple times a year, 22's weekly and of course a jar of Tannerite once in a while. :D Have yet to be questioned. Don't ask me where I get ammunition as I am very very worried that I will run out. But not too soon. ;) I do choose times when most people are away at work. Be safe everybody but never give up your rights. :2cents:
