I don't agree with everything that he says, but Sigarms is a stray dog's best friend. So he has the right to be a little rabid when talking about them. ;)

Thank you, and at least you may understand a little bit where I'm coming from.

Like most people here, a long time ago most bully breeds scared the heck out of me. Too scary and didn't want to deal with them.

Then, after taking a couple in (by karma or whatever you'd like to call it), I learned more about the breed, and in particular, sometimes the people who would intentionally want the breed aren't the best owners.

Don't get me wrong, handling a bully breed takes special care and more work, but the reality is, some of the VERY BEST dogs I've evered owned was an American Staffordshire Terrier, and because they were so good to me, I can't, nor will I, unconditionally condemn the breed.

As I've gotten older I'd like to think I've gotten wiser. The one thing that really scares me is when people condemn a sect or a group. Example...All muslims are terrorists, All Republicans butt holes or all Democrats are communists (or to that extent, just look at our political forum LOL). When someone says a breed of dog is sterotyped negatively (such as the pit bull) and deservedly so, that scares the living crap out of me when I had the SAME breed of dog and I found that isn't the case from my own personal experiences.

Heck, when I was really young, I thought all civilians were ******* and didn't deserve to live in the US because they didn't do their time serving (I was unconditionally branding people). The reality is now I believe living a civilian life is hard than leading a military life because you don't have anyone telling you what to do LMFAO.

A dog is mans best friend, but rarely do we give the same in return IMO.

EDIT- and for the record, I didn't turn this into a anti Bully Breed thread, but I'll be more than happy to stick around for it:D

Remember John, when you point the finger at someone you have more pointing at yourself than you're pointing at them.

Thank you Shaneard. Since my son's suicide in 2015 I've struggled with my emotional states. I'm done here.

We ARE talking about dogs here!!! DOGS, not anything important really in the grand scheme of things..

It's pretty simple, whatever animals you own, contain them or chances are you will lose them one way or another.. If you have loose dogs attacking you're livestock, threatening you're your family, get rid of them and forget about it.. We are not talking about cancer here, dig a hole and be done with it..

My take on problem dogs is that they are just one more example of anti social behavior by people that want to stick their finger in the eye of society in general, but want to do it passive aggressively. These are the same asshats who put loud exhausts on their vehicles to assault everyone they pass, pile up junk in their front yards to create eyesores and, yes, let their dogs be their surrogate aggressors. They snicker when their dogs poop in your yard, chase your kids or livestock. After all, "they" didn't do it, the dog did it and besides, "are you sure it was my dog?"

Have you read "Your Dog Is Your Mirror" by Kevin Behan? I think you'd like it :)

Had a coworker years ago that while visiting his inlaws, his son was bitten, dog basically took a big bite out of child's face. The dog had been tormented by the little kids for several hours before being cornered and finally he had enough and took a bite. Coworker sued his inlaws and won a nice settlement that was put in trust and managed by independent and could only be used for specific things for child (they used some for braces when kid was in his teens)...

We need to teach our kids/grandkids how to treat others, including pets. I have been working with my granddaughter that lives with us how to treat our dog and cats. She is doing really well, but had to learn.

Sorry to hear that John, prayers for you and your family.

Better than prayers are souls that assist when assistance is needed - but please, keep praying!
