Neighbors tractor broke from towing up hill ?

Agree with the latest comments...I would tell the guy to go suck a lemon...he will be hard pressed to even find an ambulance chaser to even take it on IMO...no binding agreement means no liability IMO...

I went back thru the posts and couldn't determine exactly what type of clutch/PP the tractor had OEM. Was is a 2-stage, tranny direct pto or what? I used to have a JD CUT model 970 with a 2-stage clutch.

They were known to have clutch sticking problems whenever they sat for extended periods of time or in moist, humid conditions. The clutch plate would begin to rust and take a set on the PP and/or flywheel.

Had to be careful when attempting to free the clutch.. might end up with more pieces than you started out with!!

Willl - I am more worried about all of our posts to the thread than anything duke posted...I have seen some real devious attorneys at work and how they twist and spin things...I don't think Duke has posted anything I'd ever be ashamed of ...but some of the posts may be taken the wrong way....:2cents:

I want to thank all the members for you're support, it's a good feeling to know we have some fine people here.
I received a call from the neighbors daughter today, she was very nice and apologetic for her parents behavior,she
asked if she and her father could come to my house and talk, well i was somewhat apprehensive but agreed.

Upon their arrival, he stated he was very sorry for the way he and his wife acted, and that he was wrong for all the
things said, and wanted to apologize. He further said that he was upset, and really didn't want to lose me as a friend and
neighbor.
I accepted his apology and let it go at that, i figured it's much better to get along with you're neighbors, and also
took his age into account.

I did get a education out of this incident, and that is, people seem to blame anyone who is handy rather than accept responsibility
for their own mistakes, and also learned not to tow anyone's tractor again, Maybe.

That's very good news, indeed! When strong emotions run roughshod over our common sense.. we can all be pretty humbled when the dust settles. (Sure hope he took the mechanics advice on the PP, too.)

U should always get a waiver signed when doing anything for free...including pulling people out of mud. I don't live by these rules but they should apply these days.
