Neighbors tractor broke from towing up hill ?

Showing that no good deed goes unpunished... If he asked for the tow, didn't specify a max tow speed and didn't request that you slow down, I don't see where (legally) he has a leg to stand on...

Keep us posted . If he came to YOUR house ranting and raving you may think about calling the police and let them know he threatened you and your dogs. A police report will help showing he is unreasonable, you will also have more grounds for a restraining order if need. If he shows up again or makes one more threat then I would call for sure.

Thank you for the advice it is appreciated. Both of them are elderly and this was a big factor for me not becoming more aggressive.
I'm hoping after a few days of cooling down they both will come to their seances and we can sit down and discuss the matter, he is a neighbor and I would much rather get along with him and her, for everyone's sake.

No contract - no directions on pulling speed - no indication to slow down - no known reason for the tractor breakdown in the first place PLUS threatens to you and your property...... I admire you for keeping your cool! It is just as likely that the original break down was the clutch breakdown or a contributing factor to the clutch issue.

I would direct further conversation with this neighbor though my attorney and keep my dogs on my turf. Further, you should file a report with the sheriff's dept on the threats if for no other reason to make sure there is an official report should other issues arise later.

Around here one doesn't threaten someone in their own house! I'm just saying........

I did contact the Sheriff so it would be documented, so far no formal complaint has been filed, again I'm hoping they will cool down.
The other point is they are both in their latter 70s and I think he really believes it was my fault.
I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens.

even if it was called a verbal contract. the fact that no specific conditions were set.. then they usually will work out to be favorable tot he contracted party. ie.. you.

i know he's your neighbor.. but if he did sue. i'd countersue for anything you have a legal precedence to do so.

best case is he has to MOVE due to financial problems..

I hope all works out for you. Be careful do not attempt to approach the neighbor again, this could be consider harassment. I know you want to resolve this issue I am just concerned you may give him other options to sue you.

Yes if he does sue I would counter for the mental anguish he caused you and you family over worrying about your well being as well his suit. I would also include the bill for the tow job.

If he comes to your door do not answer it and keep your distance, do not approach him. I he wants to sit down with you do it in the presence of your lawyer
