Neighbors tractor broke from towing up hill ?

Just a point if he does decide to sue. You said you pulled him up a hill. Maybe his tractor stalled or died on top of that hill and he coasted down THE HILL IN GEAR WITH THE CLUTCH ENGAGED destroying the clutch before you ever hooked up to it. I dont think he would be succesful in court. It is not fun having tension between neighbors. Hope everything works out for you.

The pp on the 1020 tractor: It has 3 fingers w/ springs and you can press them down with you're foot, the mechanic said that you should not be able to
press them down that easy.
I think it is a 2 stage clutch type, with a manual stick to shift from hi range to low range. I don't know anymore than this, and I don't think the neighbor would
know anything at all, he's dumber than I am .

I will pass this info. concerning the pp to him. I'm sure he would like to hear this, I don't know the price of the pp but I would bet they probably are
high dollar.

Maybe he read that you said he is dumber than you are. That made him mad enough to come after you for some $$. I am sure you didnt mean any harm , I think you were just saying you both lacked experience towing. Just be careful what you post or say a slick lawyer will find it and try to use it against you. If had charged a fee for towing him you would be considered a pro. And could have some liability. Since you did it as a goodwill type of thing for your neighbor I wouldnt think you would have any financial responsibility.

If there is any chance that he really going to sue you. ANd it appears he might. You need to have a monitor delete this entire thread right now. Any half poor lawyer can use this thread against you. And they will search for this kind of stuff.

:thumbsup: I agree...in discovery you will be asked under oath for user names and sites you belong to....good advice. All I can say is based on what you posted...If I were you...I would not speak to this neighbor again, if he sues I would file a counter suit for enough to make him wish he had kept his mouth shut....I would show no mercy...you tried to help him...nahh...no mercy. I would delete this whole thread.

Thanks for the heads up concerning the post. However, I did say it, and I guess I will have to live with it,. If I was to ask the monitor to
remove the post it would be wrong.

The man and his wife are near eighty years old, if they sue me I will tell my side and try and convince the judge I was only helping a neighbor,
but to add or remove something in the post is not the way.
Also, I didn't charge him for the tow and I think if one did, they could be responsible to a degree. No I'm going to wait and see what happens, as I said
these folks are near eighty years old and I don't want't to cause them any harm.

Nothing duke said needs to be deleted. Everything he said, indicates that he wants to get along with his neighbors and was helping him, after being approached for help. He was continuing to help his neighbor from hel* on this forum, trying to get information/ help/tips from forum members.
