Thanks for the compliments guys.

mjncad: I hear that rust converter is good stuff:D

Oh yeah it was fun, i think im pushing close to 30 hours (likely more) so far if you count all the drains and culverts :D lots of seat time.

I still have a section around 20x60 to convert to lawn, but that will have to wait. All told this year im closing on on 7000 sq feet of new, and im in the process of redoing about 1200 of old lawn. so im keepin busy lol/

I strung up some rope at waist height today and tied some pie plates to it to act as noise makers. Also had a leak on a couple trees to mark my territory :D. Havent got any hair yet, but i may try that too. Got to keep the bastards at bay somehow:D

Maybe this will confuse the deer enough to leave your place alone.

1. Day one, drink lots of coffee to give your whiz a pungent Kona coffee scent and mark as many trees as you can.

2. Day two, take day off from tree whizzing to clear your system.

3. Day three, drink lots of beer to give it that Coors "Rocky Mountain Fish Pi$$" smell, and mark previously untouched trees.

4. Day four, take day off from tree whizzing to clear your system.

5. Day five, eat lots of asparagus and then whiz on any unmarked trees left around, and it looks like you have plenty of arboreal targets on your property. Personally I can't stand the smell of asparagus, so that would be enough to keep me from invading your property, and I would hope the deer feel the same way.

6. Repeat as necessary.

Oh yeah! I think you are gonna have some more work for that Craftsman besides pulling a drag. That looks like lots of fun lawnwork. Remember, if you have to dodge trees when you spread fill, you will have to dodge them over, and over, and over when you mow. Trees are great, but they sure make it hard to mow in a straight line.;)

Nice work all-around. Great job!

Jim: Yeah the joys of trees,eh?:D
Maybe next year the craftsman will have to get traded on one of those nice 4ws deere x324's;) or a ztr, you know, to make life easier....

mjncad: Dont know about the Coors, but i can say there was definately some Keiths there :D

Looks like my system of plates , ropes and Pi55 are workin. Knock on wood.

In a previous thread, i recommended Rainbird impact sprinklers. I think im going to have to retract that recomendation, at least for me. While they are well built, due to my limited water (6GPM and 40PSI) they have a tendency to stall and overwater. If you were wattering on city water or from a pond with a pump, youd be fine, but for my conditions This just wont do.

After talking to my brother (greenskeeper) he said i should go with a rainbird 5000 series rotary. He said all the golf courses have gone rotary. He was right. Much better coverage, even and consistent. Plus it comes with lots of nozzels so you can dial it in to match your available GPM exactly. Anything from 1-8? GPM. Perfect if your on a well. I really cant recommend them enough. Made in the US, adjustable, well built. I put together each sprinkler for around 30. Less than the price of a import, non adjustable sprinkler.

So i rigged up some redneck irrigation :D

I built a riser out of Galvenized 1/2" pipe and a street 90. Then i welded on a stake to anchor the sprinkler. WORKS EXCELlENT. TO make it even better, i put it on a couple timers. :D Its like a mini golf course. Automatic Lawn here i come.

A few "action shots" and a shot of the 2 zone controllers.

I needed 2 zones because the Oscillating sprinklers are 3+ gpm each and im running 2.5 gpms in the rotarys. So they need to run for different times. Plus i just dont have the GPM to run them all at once. There really isnt enough GPM to run the 2 Oscillating on one circuit, but not much i can do.

/ I know to you guys in the south, lawn irrigation isnt that big, but nobody (besides the best golf courses) has it around here :D

A little update since our growing seasion is winding down.

The irrigation system worked wonders. I probably had the best results ever installing a lawn, and there is no doubt it was the reason.

I highly recommend that when installing a new lawn, you go out and spend the money to install a temporary system such as i did. Cost was around $150, and part of that was a brand new hose $50, money well spent.Plus ill be able to re-arrange the system for garden duty in the future. Makes a huge difference. Unless you want to water your lawn every couple hours all summer:D

The lawn came in quite well, with only a few bare patches. Ill rake them and reseed next spring, but all in all, lawn looks good.

Heres a few pics. With the current air temps, sure feels like it will be covered in snow soon

Looks good Scooby. Did you see the Top Gear episode in which Jeremy, James and Richard did a garden makeover for some British soccer star? I don't think you want them working on your new lawn.

I finally got BBC America here in my house so I can watch episodes of Top Gear. I love that show.

Thumbs up on well done project Scooby.
Little more lawn to more than before, but lawn w/trees and stream should look like picture postcard. :)

But at least the rocks came in handy to build retaining walls around the culverts.

I just found this thread....Great work:D

Your grass really came in good & looks great!... The old culvert really looked bad.

Also great work on the irrigation system!

I really like the way you stacked the rock around the new culvert!... I had a guy call me yesterday to ask if I had any rock to put around a new one.

I've put in some triple wall plastic pipe for friends before, and they may last longer.. BUT, they sure cost a lot:D

I read where you was having trouble with deer... You can either take them out with a gun or bow:D:D..OR, you can call me:D

The way I've been keeping deer out of my garden is using VHS tape... I take it and go around the area, and when the wind blows it will make a roaring sound, and if the sun is shining on it, then it looks like a mirror:D... The deer won't jump the fence now!

You really done a great job!.. and I'm glad you have more grass to mow:D

Your right, You can never have too much lawn! :D

Thanks for sharing your project.. Great work! :D

Life is great!:D
