Buying Advice New 2012 Model Year ?

I've owned a BX2200, BX1500, BX2350 and a BX2660. Now have a BX25. The BX25 has enough power to turn itself over or stand itself on end with the BH so increased HP probably wouldn't be of any value or very little. I, from my ownership experience, believe the 23Hp engine in the BX25 runs smoother and revs quicker than the 26Hp in the previously owned BX2660. The BX2660 was powerful and I could tell a difference in power mowing a steep hillside with the BX2660 over the BX2350 but when I moved from the BX2660 to the BX25 I prefer the "feel" of the quick reving and smooth BX25. The BX2660 was also had the loudest whine in the Hydro of any other models I've owned.
Change, it has to happen to convince the buying public that they are getting a newer, better, improved version whether it actually is or not.

As much as everyone loves the BX Series and that includes me, I believe that with the introduction of the John Deere 1026R, in order to maintain market share, Kubota is going to have to improve the line.

I think I have a whole 8 hours under my belt w/ my new BX25 and the only gripe I have is the seat, and it is a big gripe. Totally dissatisfied I am w/ that mechanism. I need a better seat and if someone were to make it I think I would spring for it. I want to be able to spin that seat while standing on the BH deck or the main deck, not be FORCED to get off the tractor and eff around with it. I HATE IT.

Seems to me a better solution would be a seat that simple folds back 90 degrees, where when you are using the BH your butt is where your back would be if you were using the FEL and vice versa. Just a pivot and you can still have a slider fore and aft...

If there were more horsepower I would like it to be directed at the control valves so more multi -tasking can be done. HA! I guess I am starting to get the hang of it after writting then reading that! It is a great tractor...except the seat I am a happy camper so far. One tiny leak, easy to fix it was.

If they have a line that sells well, they will keep it alive. While they may tweak a few things here and there it will remain basically the same machine. Unless there are new emission regulations that can't be retro fitted onto existing engines or certain major parts are no longer available.

I recently considered a M5040 and was told by another dealer that the model had switched to the M5140 but they were the same tractor. We decided to go with a TYM but one with the ag tires still has not been delivered, and I know where there is a M5140 with cab and loader just waiting for a new owner... May end up with a Kubota yet. Just don't like the extra 6 grand for the Kubota.

As far as year, if you find a model you like, get it. So what if they add another bell or whistle.

My dealer just warned me of higher prices in 2012 due to the new emissions requirements being put on the tractors/rtvs. He says the bigger tractors will be the first with the new equipment.

From what I understand if Kubota makes any real changes they will change the model number so year model is moot. Also when most manufactures come out with a new model they also usually have a new price.

Emissions standards - in 2013 engines from 25 to 75 HP get a soot reduction change of 90% from today's limit from 0.30 to 0.03 g/kWh. That generally means a particulate trap which is going to add cost and has to be fit somewhere. It takes a lot of development time and money to meet the standards so in general major tractor changes have been aligned with engine emissions changes.

The reason i believe a new bx25/26 may come in 2012 is three fold:
1. The new 25 hp motor could allow better efficiency matching of gear/axle ratio to torque band to rpm levels. Why would that be important? Because it would promote even better fuel and power efficiency and emission level reductions.

These claims you make are based on what, exactly?

I see no dyno charts, no efficiency tests, no documentation that the current "...matching of gear/axle ratio to torque band to rpm levels" needs improvement, nor evidence of any better "matching" provided by a different engine. Do you have access to these documents?

Further, it's an HST--how critical is the match between the various (expensive to change) factors you mention anyway, with an HST?

As was said, get a B. The BX has more power than it needs right now, for it's weight--not to mention it's ground clearance is a big limiter, for some. It doesn't matter what horsepower it is, if it's "high centered" on an ant hill, or a muddy field, and you're knocking on your neighbor's door for a quick tug job.

A new series of highly efficient small diesel engines was just announced by the competition in the last few days. I believe Kubota is also developing such a series and will announce some new BX product during the 2012 calendar year.

KUBOTA is not about to lose its lead in this important 15 to 27 HP market. These products will reduce the need for expensive EGR type emission product add-on/upgrades that has made problems for big engine diesel makers (semi tractors as one group of several). They will burn less fuel but have more power.
