Yes I bought a vn tractor from the dealer in mesquite. I just wished I would have known about this website before I bought mine in 2006. It's not too bad of a tractor for the price I paid at the time but their workmanship is horrible
My pto guard came off and spun with pto, but fixing it was easy.
I put about 3 hours on it today. Observations are as follows:
I drove 40 minutes on tractor to get to ranch from home. I went 4-6 mph varying engine speeds as I went. I mowed for 4+ hours this weekend. I am stunned by how little fuel it used.[maybe 1.5-2 gallons ] My pto guard came off and spun with pto, but fixing it was easy. My left foot kicked the tractor out of 4wd a time or two. I generally ran about 1800rpm with the mower. The grass is tall but sparse and dry. The lightweight 5' LMC 500 Clipper has a big sticker that says "Important Pasture Mowing Only", well all my pastures are important. The rotary cutter worked extremely well and my "pastures" are full of wild hog holes, old[140 y.o.!] terracing for cotton and light brush. It handled it all with ease. I noticed that right after I shut the tractor down, the engine was only warm to the touch. Very cool running motor. No surprises, just hard work taken in stride.
Interesting about the 2nd pto gear rpms. I can see where that might be useful if used with care. Thanks for sharing that data. This old 2210d is impressive! Pics soon.
Well, those guys at Fredricks can't be stopped. They found a guy closely associated with them to bring my 2210d to me on Friday. 96 hours after I ordered it they got it to me 700 miles away. Right on time I took delivery and drove it home. Absolutely world class delivery and initial interaction with Fredricks.
The tractor is beautiful. It runs great and the Lowery cutter runs great after I checked all grease and oil was in place.[it was] I struggled to level out 3pth and cutter but got it finally. bmavrick, it has a 2T90 engine. The manual says to run cutters in 1st pto gear only, but I noticed you mentioning using 2nd pto and keep rpms down. Is that an option with this little 2 cylinder? It is super strong by the way.
I run a 250 acre wildlife/cattle operation[75 acres to mow in mosaic patterns, trail cutting and multiple small food plots]I will be trying to take care of this thing while working it to the max. Already have 2 hours on it.
SWEET !
As for the 3pt hitch, if the lower arms have additional side holes you can move the two lift arms to those holes to allow the lower arms to hook up with the implements. I had to do that after taking delivery. Also, when I had visited Fredricks, I picked up an aditional lift arm that can adjust. Thus, for right and left are adjustable. This makes the box blade tilt even more. ( I can make ditches really easy now.)
Glad you got the 2T90. It's a little stronger than the 2T80. It may be the engine piston stroke distance as the pistons are the same diameter. The John Deere 650 2cly uses the 2T80. So parts should be alright to still find down the road.
As for the tiller running with the PTO at a higher rpm, did you ask Fredricks what PTO speeds your machine is capable of. Bobby or your sales person can forward that into to you. My YM2610 has 4 PTO speeds. If yours only has 3 PTO speeds, chances are the second one may be a bit too fast.
Yes, you will love that tractor very much since it behaves just like NEW.
Can you elaborate . Pics maybe? thx
