Quick Update
It's been 3 weeks now since our tractor came back and the tractor now has 207 hours on it. The PTO seems to be working ok. But the power steering is getting worse. It completely stops working sometimes while using forks to move equipment off our pallet storage racks. You have to climb the steering wheel to make it steer. I found small bubbles/foam on trans dip stick, so there is possibly a suction leak somewhere. The transmission is starting to act up again with long delays while shuttling form forward to reverse and there has been a snapping cracking noise from the transmission along with a jerking motion while backing. I talked to the dealer and he contacted the service rep asking him to contact me direct to try and figure out what is going on. I haven't heard back from him so the dealer suggested I call the 800 number again to help get things moving again. I contacted the NH 800 number and they said they would look into it again and get back to me on Monday or Tuesday.
The nightmare continues.
I've got a 2011 boomer with 540 hours on the clock.
I've just moved 60 tons of chalk backwards and fowards 200m with just the loader, which has taken 35 hours, it's done it effortlessly, and I love the tractor to pieces.
We got it second hand, and it's always had a slight shunting in reverse, but only with 4x4 mode on, but it's fine driving forwards, so I just switch to 2wd when reversing to get around the problem.
As for the hydraulics locking up when lifting or pushing forwards, that's the pressure relief valve, it mentions it in the manual somewhere, if you apply too much hydraulic pressure, it's protecting the system, usually lowering the loader, or reversing back the way you came frees the system and it returns to normal, I'd say its' expected behavior.
I do get the hissing noise if I remove the oil plug from the front axle, and the transmission filler plug on the back end.
I also get the steering gurgling sound, you can actually get the tractor in a situation on REALLY steep slopes where you can't turn the steering rack at all (i've had it angled so it's only on 1x wheel), so I feel the front steering is under powered a little.
There was damage to the front steering when we got it, the casting had bent/cracked, someone had broken one of the rams too.
Our Yamaha ATV's have done 5000 hours and 2800 hours, if I can get 2000 hours out of this tractor before I get a major failure I'd be pleased.
Service time soon.
Any recommendations on what to change?
