Mowing New 3320 Jerks & Lunges

I have a brand spanking new 2011 3320 with ehydro (NO CAB). It has 5 hours on it. I got the 72 inch drive on iron deck. Im wondering if anyone is having the same issue I am. When driving in B range, its terribly jerky when mowing, it lunges and bucks like a bronco. I set the RPM right to the recommended 2100 RPM range for mid PTO. Its not bad or even noticeble going downhill. On a flat surface over 5mph its pretty bad. When on a slight or moderate incline, its really weird, i can be at say a steady 3mph and it will sort of slow down, so i increase the depth of the pedal and it will practically come to a stop. I check the rear tires and they are not spinning, the RPMs pull down 500 or so and it just acts strange. So i come to a stop and the RPMs rise and i can sort of continue at 1 or 2 mph. Without the MidPTO running, its much less noticeable, but can be jerky from time to time especially when trying to speed up or going up a very slight grade.

Two more things I want to add: 1. To be able to raise and lower the deck i have to hit that rocker switch one time after starting the tractor - i think the switch is called a REAR SCV switch so I have no idea why im using that to allow the deck to be raised or lowered. After all the loader controls work without having to hit that switch. 2. Im using the same lever i use for controlling the loader to raise and lower the deck, that is to say the up and down grey control on the handle part of the lever. Its super fast and i completely hate it because it seems that the deck is either all the way up or all the way down no matter how briefly i try to hit it. This is a big problem as I cant really control the deck height for changing how high I mow certain areas and which forces me to use the adjustment bar instead, which is a chore to keep changing.

So my question is if anyone has a similar config, are they using the same controls and is it normal to be used this way? And is anyone having that lunging problem.

I dont seem to have a load match or motion match button in case you are wondering. It doesnt matter if im in 2 or 4 wheel drive either. My dad has an old 670 with much less power and his doesnt have any problems like this at all...

Sorry, could not help it. Sounds like you have real problems and likely will require the dealer. Dumb question but have you checked the oil in the tranny?
I am not up to speed on the JD but is it drive by wire? If so, probably and electronic issue.
I am just babbling here because I do not know JD, good luck.

You do have the load match and motion match but have to change them using buttons on the dash. You will need to get the manual out to read how to make the changes. You can try changing your roll out motion from short to long and see if that helps

Does the machine act the same way in "A" range. It almost sounds like you are going too fast and pulling the engine down then letting up too much. If you are mowing heavy grass you will have to listen to the engine and let it tell you how fast you should be going. Keep your RPMs up. If you have cruse you may want to try setting it and see what happens. You can get a switch kit to make the cruse, load match and motion match all work with switches on the fender. I don't mow with a finish mower on mine so I can't help much more than what I have.

Yes, it does it in A range, but a range is so short that its dimished by that factor of speed. And it happens when Im just running the desk, even over blacktop, so its not like its bogging down at all. I did read the manual last night and didnt see anything about loadmatch or motion match on the dash, but ill check again. If it is set to the shortest, that might explain the lunging.

I may well be mistaken in how I read your post...but you set the engine RPM at 2100? I do believe you'll want to set the engine RPM at PTO speed (on the tach) to produce the 2100 RPM at the mid-PTO.
I'm thinking you might be lugging the engine a bit by running it too slow...if I read your post correctly.

I go by the PTO symbol on the tach, it shows the optimal range to run the PTO, but it doesnt matter, from 0 to 3000 rpm, the problem is apparent.

As follow up to Roy's point on both 3320's I've had the engine RPM for PTO work is about 2600. AT 2600 engine RPM the rear PTO is @ 540 and the mid PTO is @ 2100. There is a little symbol on the tach at the correct speed setting.

The problem could be related to Load or Motion Match settings. See the section in the OM under Operating - Machine and check the setting are at the factory default. I recently had the LM sensor replaced - tractor would barely move with LM engaged.

You are correct, its 2600 rpms for the optimal pto, and i set the motion match to 9 - the longest. Its slightly better, but still lunges forward on flat or uphill areas occasionally. Anyone have any ideas?

I think on the 72D deck there is a mower height setting bar you have to set to the desired height (1 1/2 to 5") after attaching the deck located on the left side of tractor.
