I think a lot of you guys are way underestimating development and manufacturing costs. Remember, even reprogramming a chip requires testing (for effectiveness, durability and emissions), none of which is cheap to do.
And things such as injection molded plastics...how much do you think those mold tools cost? It's easy to spend $250,000.00 on tooling and those costs have to be amortized. Then you have overhead costs (shipping, distribution, advertising, etc.).
This isn't some Mom and Pop shop work, or some computer whiz working in his basement office deveoping this kind of stuff...

Something else everyone is forgetting - each larger model comes standard with larger sized tires and wheels to be able to transfer the extra power to the ground. If you have ever priced new wheels and tires, that's not a cheap upgrade.

Sorry JD110 all of the top four tractors have the same tires and rims. Front are 8.00 X 16 and the rear are 13.6 X 28

I have any early 4120 (2005 I think built in 2004) I have had several service trip with my JDDealer and the last trip in they had to run it on their dyno. The PTO rated horsepower on mine is listed as 35. The dealer stated in my service comments that my tractor was putting out 46 horsepower . Since they did adjustments to my tractor I noticed considerable amount of power increase .

20 hp change and running same clutch? Gears? Pumps? Radiator? Same weight? I know changing turbo sizes isn' cheap. Just some ideas to consider. And like mentioned, every configuration gets tested and rated.
