New 4410 A Huge Disappointment

"I told the salesman not to bring it back"

I have purchased several new tractors, trucks and cars. I have never been able to just say, "I told the salesman not to bring it back." Before the "Lemon Law" on cars I purchased a Chevrolet that I had to keep bus fare and a bus route schedule on hand at all times. Talk about "Junk". I could not take that one back.

Does John Deere allow this? I ask because I have never purchased a John Deere Tractor. Always been orange and blue.

Well it seems I am about to become the recipient of some goodwill, courtesy of John Deere. The regional rep has arranged to give me a new-replacement 4410 along with a twelve month extension to the manufacturer's warranty. Apparently, the dealer still has not been able to isolate the eHydro problem. He's been on it since Thursday.

This seems prove out what some of the "green" TBN'ers have said. JD is a quality company.
I'm glad it's working out well.

That is pretty much the story with every deere problem I have heard of on new equipment. They will usually bend over backwards to make you happy. I don't know of too many other companies that have the track record like that of deere. It doesn't matter if you are a big or a little farmer or even a farmer at all. They usually go that extra mile.

That's good to hear. I hope this all pans-out. I could be back in the seat within the next 24-48 hours. On the plus side; the little woman has been very disappointed for me. Perhaps, /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif in the end, this isn't a bad way to introduce a new tractor into the household.

Dave,

I'm glad the regional sales rep got involved. I believe Deere watches over thier dealers and "deals" with the ones who are not working out. A friend of mine will be joining a dealership in northern Indiana. Two dealerships near this one were shut down and the region/zone given to the first one. The others where closed because of customer complaints.

It appears that they will take notice.

Goodluck,

John

Would that be QMH John? A friend of mine noted they were shut down recently. Not surprising to me, horrible service. I'd stop by occasionally just for filters etc. but never had much confidence in them. I got my backhoe through their Elkhart branch but it was a very painful transaction. Only the price kept me in it (was a lightly used hoe).

Where does your friend work?

Dave:
Having only owned JD Garden Tractors but seriously looking at a JD 790 CUT, I'm very glad you are sharing both the problems and the resolutions with us. I have always had faith in JD but stories like yours make me a little edgy when I"m thinking of buying soon. It's great to hear you got something from them which you think is fair compensation. Also, since they have been working on your old unit since thursday with no resolution, it seems like it's not a common problem all these trannys have.

Good luck with the new toy er... workhorse!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

According to the service tech, it seems Deere, from time to time, changes the recommended operating range of the electronic/computer-run transmission functions in the eHydros. Apparently one of the functions in mine was set at a limit of its prescribed operating range. The current service manuals have not been amended to illustrate the latest settings. I was at the shop this morning and the replacement 4410 was parked next to mine ready for the loader and backhoe to be switched over. I opted to keep the original one because the tech had me believe the problem was solved by adjustment that he completed. Also, Deere has extended my warranty by twelve months at no additional charge. I still have a leak-down problem in the backhoe. however, so the tech has ordered a replacement valve that he will install in one day as soon as it comes in. That will be an opportunity for me to have corrected any bugs that might come about in the mean time. Fingers crossed! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
