Just purchased a new T1530 and what a loud whine in the Hydro system when using it! Anyone else have this problem or know of this?

Is it doing something that didn't happen during your test drives of the tractor?

I took my T1530 back to the dealer and they supposedly found the problem. They ran pressure checks with the guages and found a piece of plastic in the hydro line or the pump. The tractor had to be split in half to fix this problem. I put about 10 hours on it over the weekend and the whine is 10 times better but I wish it could be a little more quieter. Thats probably the best its going to be? Im comparing this tractor to my previous TC30 hydro which was a great tractor!

I looked at the new 1530 at my dealer yesterday. Looked pretty nice.

What floored me is the fenders, cowl etc is all metal whil my higher priced TC45A is all plastic.

I have worked in the aircraft maintenance business for quite a while now. Our hydraulic systems whine as well. We use the whine as an additional safety feature to remind us when the hydraulics are in operation, so the whine on the tractor could be viewed as a helpful thing. It's all in how you look at it.

I wonder if Skydrol would work in our tractors? It's supposed to have a very high flash point and be exceptionally good at keeping contaminants in suspension. I'm neither brave enough nor rich enough to try it though.

I talked to the dealer today about the whine in the hydro system again. They found out that the floor model also had that same load whine. They are now contacting the New holland rep. to find out some answers? Checked with some other New Holland dealers and they are also having this same complaint.
My Dealer told me to keep driving it until they get some answers.
I'll keep in touch and let you know the results.

Every JD hydro I've driven - including my current JD 110 TLB - whines! I wear foam ear plugs, too. I can still hear it..

If it EVER stops whining -- I will be VERY, VERY concerned!

PS a local farmer friend is trying to nail down a deal on a new, 1530 with FEL up here in Alaska. The price on the Boomer series stopped him in his tracks!

What kind of oil you using? I ask because I dont see whine as normal...yeah it whines a little...but for example, I can not hear any whine on my 3520 (even since new)...Not saying it DOESNT whine, but its so quiet, with the radio on I cant hear it and you really need to listen for it to hear it. Even on the few occasions that SWMBO is driving it I cant hear the whine from outside either. I really only hear it when forcing the machine.
That being said, my F935 I bought used whined like a MOFO when I first got it...drained all the hyd fluid, changed filter, replaced with Genuine JD HyGard lo-Vis and voila, in about 5 mins it was super quiet. If the 935 starts whining more then normal, I usually change the hyd filter and she goes back to "quiet mode".

I guess the key question is "how much whine is normal"...all Hydro's do it to some extent, some quieter then others.

55 gals of Skydrol would cost more than my Ford tractor did. Plus, spill a little on the paint and you'll be pulling out the paint brush. In addition to wearing protective gear when handling it. (Skydrol "will dissolve away some of the fatty materials of the skin.")

I've always used JD Lo-Vis. I changed the smaller hyd filter at 50 hrs with the break-in oil. Then at 150 hours, I changed both of the hyd filters along with the oil change.

Since then, I change the small hyd filter at every oil change ~200hrs with synthetic oil in the engine.

'Course, I changed out everything at 400 hrs - fluid, filters and new sump screen filter, too.

I've just got a "whiner".... But it has always done what I've asked it to -- and some things I shouldn't have!
