Not really figuring what implement I want to hitch up the next day....more an issue regarding which implement I'd like to buy in the future. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif What's amazing about these tractors is not until you have one do you really start discovering new projects you'd like to tackle. These projects....they seem to be finding a way on my 'Things to Do List' fast and furious. No problem with this....just means this 4710 will be a very productive machine. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Rancar, on the front SCV hydraulic plugs I'd suggest you tiewrap them tight since I've had brush strip mine off. Also, brush has torn out the plastic front axle hydraulic plug/dipstick. I think that you should have a black fabric sleeve installed on the front hydraulic lines to prevent chaffing on the main loader arms (next to the engine cover on the right side). This was getting worn pretty quick so I slit a black rubber hose and tie wrapped it to the edge of the loader arm (the arm is U-shapped) it was hitting. Works fine. Brush can also pop out the lynch pins on the lower 3PH arms where than attach to the rear end case. I've had one come out, the lower arm slide partially off the the pin and damage the pin ($100 fix). This is somewhat more likely to occur with the mounting plate for the backhoe installed. I found that safety wiring these two lynch pins tights stopped that problem. One comment on the pallet forks comparing them to Spence's. His forks latch tight at the bottom. Your's (and mine - WR Long) don't so this limits their usefulness to stump removal. Still like them since they are so handy. Especially when you tell delivery services that you've got them.

Thanks John for the tips....I'm tempted to take the 4710 and plow through hedgerows but I'm cognizant of the kick back damage the underbrush may cause to the undercarriage of the 4710's chassis and potential damage to the hydraulics.

Regarding the forks and their potential for removing stumps, I decided to purchase them after reading Spencer's posts...but I realized that they aren't as durable as his are to rip out large lateral roots and then the stump's taproot. I'll try this technique on many smaller stumps I have to see how it goes and work progressively to the bigger ones. I'm realizing though after I got the forks, that these forks have even greater potential than I thought for removing and transporting a lot of flat, bulky field stone that I have in the hedgerows. Many of these I thought I could do by chaining them down in the bucket during transport....but these forks will make this chore a breeze. Just what I needed. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif These forks were a last minute purchase decision and I'm glad I've purchased them.

Yep, I do...will post them toward end of this week. Unfortunately, they're not action shots...still wet ground up where I am and the rear tires were slipping around too much. I decided then to spend more time on the 425 to catch up with all the lawn mowing./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Next pics I post will be those of the SCV controls and shots of how the Top and Tilt actually works (for those not familiar with what TnT is). Need not worry though. The 4710 will see plenty of action this summer....and I'll have plenty of action shots then.

Bob, somehow, I missed this whole thread until now! I was wondering when you would get your tractor! Congrats!!! Boy you sure did go top flight on everything!!! Great stuff!!! I thought I heard some heavy working coming from your area, I should have known it was you!!! Be careful not to tell Danny, or he'll be upset that he doesn't have the newest Deere in Cambridge!!!

Thanks again for your guidance and suggestion to visit KC-Canary....never would have visited them if you and John hadn't mentioned them to me.

Unfortunately, all I've been able to do last couple weeks is start the engine, run the tractor around in circles a bit, and make a lot of noise. That's likely what you were hearing. Ground here is still too wet to do anything meaningful...can't even get into my woodlot across the road without going through a pool of water that runs right across my only entrance to the woodlot.

Danny can sure come over and see the 4710 but compared to the machines he has I feel like I have one of those JD toy tractors I see on the shelves at the dealer. But, he, and you, and John, and the rest of Cambridge can come over and look at it if you'd like....I now have it parked outside the breakfast room window...20 feet from the breakfast table. I eat my cereal in the morning and I get to look upon a shiny green machine that perks me up in no time and just makes my day. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi Bob, I know your frustration with regards to it being too wet to use the tractor! As you know I am basically due west of you and boy have we gotten rain in the last several weeks!
Keep the faith... there is a lot of Summer and Fall ahead and many a happy tractor hour to look forward to.

You mean there's a chance I'll be using my 4310 before you guys?! Didn't think I'd ever catch up. Seriously, must be frustrating itching to get started on projects. At least you guys can admire the tractors over cereal, like Bob suggested. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it dries out soon.
